Cant say for Step 3 but for step 1 walked outside with the permission and a couple of good ones and came back. But did ask the Prometric people if i could go outside ( smoking part i left out   )

Should be nothing wrong with that... But, as said above, make sure you ask prometrics people permission (or at least let them know) to get out of the center for 5-10 min...

You don't need a permission to get out of the center. You solely decide where you spend your breaks and what you do during them. Take a nice mint gum so you don't stink after the cig break

There was a huge ashtray sitting right by the front door of the prometric center where I took the exam at. Smoke as much as you can handle buddy. Just make sure you are not smoking weed or crack.  take care and good luck.

You can do anything during your breaks!! anything!! unless it is illegal in the US!! hahaha and for as long as I remember I always get out of the center during my breaks... I just wonder how do you guys manage to stay inside for the whole examination?? I would go crazy!! I need my air!... so you do not need permision to go out , and they don't care for what you do during your breaks including smoking or anything... as long as you get back in time and you are on an authorized break and respect the rules inside the testing center when you get back everything is cool!
