Hello friends, Took Step2CK on Monday May 12 and would like to share my impression. Nothing fancy about preparation – Kaplan + UW (71% untimed) + USMLEConsult (78%). USMLE CD – 41/39/40. Studied for 4 months after taking Step1. First of all I believe that it is wise to take step 2 after step1 because many questions on pathology, pathogenesis and pharmacology are similar between two. Plus epidemiology and statistics are identical. So good knowledge of Step1 material helped me to answer about 15% of questions on CK. Overall impression: very few knee-jerk answer questions (in contrast to Step1) – mostly long vague questions with lots of extra information not related to the answer. I knew the answer for sure in about 50% of Qs, Another 10% - no clue at all and had to guess (still have no idea what is the next step in a management of conjunctival pigmented spots or how to deal with ampicillin rash in patients with mono). Rest 40% -educated guess, normally was able to reduce number of options to 2 and had some logic behind the selected answer. Overall that should give me around 70% corrects even if I answered only 50% of those questionable 40%. Do not know if this is good or bad. Two multimedia Qs with fixed split S2 and pansystolic murmur, asked for next step and I answered echocardiography for both. Two nearly identical Qs about REM sleep disorder – was not sure what to answer but later checked – REM sleep disorder indeed. Screwed heavy metal poisoning Q. About 5 epidemiology Qs, I think I aced them. Lots of OBGYN Qs but mostly not difficult, IM and Ped Qs – very vague, hard to assess. Had no problem with time management but felt very tired on the forth block. Took my lunch, rested for 15 min and that helped a lot. Funny story - one of the proctors asked what speciality I am and than if I can see her husband? I answered – you are welcome in a year, I am just a student struggling with exams for now :-). In the end I was feeling happy that the exam is over. Now – very anxious about the score and that is not helping me to concentrate on the preparation for CS. Good luck everybody. Nikitosina.

Did not do NBME. Kaplan books twice + lectures once + UW 100%, than incorrect ones. USMLECONSULT 100%

To ssssss: USMLEConsult is a question bank, easier than UW or real exam but OK for practice.

Follow up note. I have received my score report this morning. The score was much much higher than I expected - 265/99. Was waiting for something above 90 only. Lesson I have learned from this - do not get desperate even if you feel bad after the exam. Questions are very vague with no definitive answer that keeps your mind in shadows. Study hard + rely on you judgment answering the questions and you will succeed!. Do not think bad after the exam - wait for the score. Good luck to everybody who reads this forum!

Thanks everybody for kind words. Falcon, i did not study anything you mentioned but instead focused on Kaplan notes and practicing questions. Last month I answered as many Qs I could + red again my weak topics - OBGYN and pediatrics. In a real exam these two disciplines I did well indicating that it was a smart move to read Kaplan notes again.
