at last i can post my exam experience ! wont be long.
usmle score = 243/99
did 1.kaplan Qbank ( not Q Book) 71%
2.usworld 73%
3.usmle123 =75%
4.usmleRx= 78%
in this order
Forum helped me a lot , thanks thanks thanks to everyone , great psychological support here are some of my advice :
practise as many questions as u can in exam mode( online questions ) !when reviewing wrong answers keep ur books nearby , review ur weak areas immediately , dont postpone !
step 1 is a marathon ,learn practise questions in limited time !.
dont overrely on kaplan books ! us world style best reflects usmle exams!i ll say same level of difficulty , if u reach 73 % usworld ( exam mode , unused questions only . like i did , u are above 95%) doesnt mean someone with 70 % usworld cant get 99% . how u perform on exam day is utmost importannt.
dont neglect 1 .Behavioural questions , they are easy , just understand the rules , patient decides everything, competency is decided by court not physician , 2. genetics !
To everyone preparing for step 1, u all can do it ! courage patience sacrifice , put ur target , get focused , prep everyday , dont give up easily ,dont say others can do it and u not ! usmle exam is a fair one , know ur weakness, overconfidence kill.be optimist ,study stepwise day by day , weekend to weekend !do ur study plan ,many students dont know how to prepare, prepare early early !! dont lose time on complx study plans , keep fisrt aid book as a desert!!!!

hey huge congrats!!! i hope i do half as well, hehee.. great job!! i think the videos have started now, after may 15th.. plus some ppl will have only 48q/block instead of 50.. that was to start yesterday as well.. best of luck for u other exams!!

thanks hottie , u ll do it , believe in urself , get motivated ! dont fear these videos . everthing stems from BASICS , cover basic principles . , i prepared 6 months , on and off . im an IMG - doing internship now . very little time to revise , used 1.Katsung pharmacology( its our bible - i know its much - concentrate on chollinergics and adrenergics autonomics , anesthetics drugs , and of course anti cancer drugs , side effects ... ) 2. neuroanatomy i found kaplan lectures very good , the notes are the same . 3. lange anatomy case files , its well clinically correlated 4. behavioural board review .5 histolgy road map ,5 linpincott biochem. 6. first aid AND of course , about 8000 questions practised online . Many good books out there ,choose the ones tht fit u

road map had good illustrations , both are good books ! (if u find time to read both its good ) basically u need conce3ntrate on some chapters more than others, i had questions on muscle- schematic diagram showing t tubules etc , from which structure does Ca comes . another question on cystic fib , defective step occurs in whcih organelle?(on diagram - usual cell golgi app , mitochon etc ) lymph node structure with respective immunodeficeincies. Board review cell biology also enough . of course pharm , anatomy questions far exceeds histology ones

A very difficult decision to decide betwen Q banks , was faced with same problem !
2 main concepts :
1 qbanks are designed for u to improve ur score , my score improved from q bank to q bank! questions change but questioned principles are very similar. q bank is a perfect learning tool! review questions is imperative !
2.Always do questions in time frame , 1 estimation when time arrives 50.00 u must be on question 10 , 40 00 u must be around question 20 and so on , by question 30- 40 , u must have 15 min left !!! change an answer if u real sure about it .learn read fast .
3 start q bank once all subjects have been read once at least , dont do q bank if u havent read biostatistics or immonulogy .
USMLERx is basically from First aid authors , it concide with first aid book , questions are not so hard . good to review basic principles!Questions are big long , reading last line can be sufficient to answer .some questions interchanged , answers not corresponding to questions!! But first aid book is essential to review all subjects quickly ,i rate the BOOK 5 stars! an ex .know the graph on acid base disbalance by heart , got one questions with same graph labelled and had to indicate where will respiratory acidosis be , a real good book!USMLE123 exceeds Rx it by far- consult uses diff question style , questions are TOUGH !! in some banks end up with 25/50 at start , explanations are very good , some questions too ,'exotic ' - never heard about . got 2 questions same on real exms - one on HSP heat shock protein and another weird one on sequence of tumorgenesis - colon cancer , which comes first , Ki , CDK4 or p 53 !
finally USworld , what can i say?? it the BEST OF THE BEST ! short but dangerous questions , advice to keep it in the end .A must for step 1 , if u do 70 % or above on exam mode unused questions , then ur first
2 digit score is a 9.personally i got 73 % and came out 99% . 75 % -ur real good!! saw on forum some people saying they got 80 % , dont know how they do this , but aim a cummulative performance of 70 % or above .
Qbank Kaplan - one of the most popular q bank ,- well nice questions , they got a NEW q bank !!! with many new materials and questions , doing Ck questions right now .to be used as a learning tool . well organised site , esp with good analysis of performance, how many questions changed right to wrong etc.there s much more to say , but try see by urself comment of other people , me i did all of them to solve this problem ,tiresome of course .good luck to everyone
