ok, so just took s1 yesterday, it is awful, but i have to focus on something, i plan 2 take s3 by summertime to have ready for sept when i apply, but i need help starting. hopefully if all goes ok with s1, will be ecfmg certified by end of june, soo, need help starting for s3, any suggestions???
i have my ck stuff still and will use that, i just refuse to py for anymore courses and such, but can anyone help with s3 stuff?? i figure uworld bank and kaplan reading materials but is FA any good? crush i thought was sparse for step 2, so didnt use i like secrets very much will go thru that again, anyways, im awaiting ideas.... thx so much i advanced for u help!! good luck to everyone or this years match, let's get it fine in 2009!!

ok this is my take:
For step 3 I used, Kaplan Step 3 lecture notes, and my own step 2 CK notes
Swanson geriatrics and EM
CMDT for stuff in management i was getting stuck with
UW...UW...UW
For CCS just UW and the USMLE CD
I took it in the middle of my Interviews so it wasnt the best study plan...but exam went fine....
Step 3 questions are all practise based, and many are 3 level ques i.e u will b given a case scenario and the ques will be regarding the side effect of treatment...so u are having to make the correct diagnosis, then the correct treatment and then come to think of the actual ques.....so u need a bit of practise to get into that mode...and some idea of the US system of practise is helpful (where I felt swanson helped)

oh and I personally dont like FA....so did read a bit of it but didnt find it useful...but thats just me

hey mukho, thx soooooooooooo much, that';s all i was really seekng was a vague study plan, so i appreciate ur reply!!!
i have my ck books, do u think it is necessary to do the step 3 books, and if so do u know where i can find them??? please let me know..
also, so i dont need to do kaplan and uworld, but only uworld?? no other banks i think.. so u have heard of premier review? is that any good?? well i dont mean to bombard u with ques, just happy somoene replied!!! hehehe... goodday!

I'm reading FA right now, it has the most complete and concise aproach to medical managements. Don't expect Step 2 material in there since it has little to do with Step 3.

oh i see.. ok thx so much keller! what do u suggest then?? any ideas and/or study plans, as i want to take it this summer, i was jsut saying ck notes to refresh my memory for clinical stuff, im ont in residency yet, so that's why.. but took ck few months ago, not too long ago, hehehe... but any help would be appreciated! thx!

Many of my friends read just CK but i felt if kaplan has made step 3 lecture notes then its best to go thru them... though frankly it wasnt very good...
I have no idea where to get the books from though sorry, mine are in SFO, i would give them away but am not there right now so...
I didnt do kplan qbank because i didnt have the time...plus UW was taking a lot of time and my scores initially were so bad, i decided to concentrate on just them...sorry never tried premier review

I personally think FA s3 is not good at all. Too deficient in information, absolutely not enough as only prep material. Maybe only the CCS cases section is worth it. Read the explanation on UW- very good! Wright them down! Create cards with important info. I have never used Kaplan materials, I think the reason they have created a step 3 section(as did FA) is just to suck more money out of people. I think if you still have FA step 2ck, use it. Buying special step 3 material is unnecessary to my opinion. There is nothing more to it.
I used only UW (both mcq and ccs) and I am very happy with the prep I received. My exam went well and I am happy with the result too.

hey thanks for the help guys i think i will focus on my ck notes then, and stop trying to get a hold of step 3 notes, i too thought maybe it had stuff and am dead tired of paying thousands.. will just use what i have at this point and focus on questions..
the only reason i use FA, i would def add to it, the uw notes from the bank and just add to my FA so that during last few weeks i can just go thru the FA instead of my kaplan stuff agian, u know?? doesnt that seem like good plan, or shall i just use my ck FA again too??? isn't there any difference btw ck and step 3???
