Cirrhosis leads to splenomegaly. In splenomegaly the hemodilution and sequestering causes anemia.

you also have to look at what's happening to this cirrhotic patient to have anemia. if the cirrhosis is due to hepatitis C, then may be the anemia is being caused by the antiviral treatment--ribavirin, which can cause mild anemia (but not to the point that a transfusion is needed). or perhaps because most of the clotting factors are produced by the liver, and in cirrhosis the synthesis will be affected so may be the patient is suffering from bleeding varices which may also lead to anemia if the bleeding is excessive.

B12 deficiency is the cause of anemia in cirrhotic patient since cobalamin is stored in Liver.
