Ok, I'd use the following logic to remember the afterbirth fate of Umbilical Arteries/Vein. Umbilical Vein supplies the liver in the fetus, correct? So, the ligamentum teres is a remnant in the liver. Umbilical Arteries have nothing to do with the liver. In the fetus, they arise from the Internal Iliacs and send blood back to the mom, and later become Medial Umbilical Ligaments. But, I think they'd confuse us with Medial Umbilical Ligament and Median Umbilical Ligament instead. How I remember this? From the word Median....like in the middle. Median is a remnant of allantois...bladder and I imagine it inbetween the two medial ligaments I'd recommend u look at these 2 pages in FA to help u w/visualization: page 76 to see the Umbilical V/A and page 87. It's a pic of Inguinal canal but it shows where the medial umbilical ligs are.
