even HIV carriers are health workers. it should be fine if you get the immunization too. they dont request Hep B status in the test but ask for immune status.

Checking the powers that be in my hospital for a definitive answer. My source said that there are nurses that have converted, they take approriate precautions and work. She's checking for new hire in residents.

To bbb, In your case, nurses have already worked in your program but I would like to know in terms of new employee. Can the program reject one who has this problem as an incoming resident. Thanks.

Just found out the answer - at least at my hospital. It's not a problem for a resident to work being a carrier of Hep B. Universal Precautions, testing annually, etc. Not an issue. And I specifically mentioned that this was an incoming resident.

bbb Thank you for your information. Will all program practice the same thing with this problem? Could you provide the references with regard to this matter? I mean OSHA or CDC guideline? So I could refer to this when thing does not go well with the contract. Thanks

I can't answer for all hospitals. I called my contact in our Employee Health department. You can certainly do a google search for OSHA or CDC guidelines.

Hey, wouldn't it be easier for you to check with your own hospital? That's what anybody, who is really concerned about his situation, would do... It seems to me that you just like talking about your issues but do not want to take care of them...
