Hi, does anybody know what happens if you make an appointment to an exam and you don't go, and also you are stupid enough (like me) to not cancel that exam date? Do you think that exam will appear as "incomplete" or with an "indeterminate" score in the USMLE transcripts? I didn't go to the test center (that means I didn't touch that computer to begin my exam), but the lady from the test center called me, and that's how i realized that i forgot to cancel my exam date....and now I am afraid that it will appear and "spoil" my beautiful rest of the scores.... Did anyone had a similar experiance who matched or at least completed an application on ERAS? Thank you, Leila.

u just have to pay the center for the cost of that exam, or call prometric and tell them i didnt go,i got a call, they should have told u to call prometric that day, bc they want their money for u taking that seat and not appearing i dont think it should count, but then again u didnt even pay for the non-cancel.. i've cancelled on the morning of the exam, but i always had to pay for the exam fee that day to make sure it was cancelled.. so hope that helps!

Yes sorry new_n_lost I didn't know where exactly to post it...I found it now Hottie99, well ofcourse I said bye bye to my money (not money is my problem, but I didn't know you have to pay to cancel....you have to pay if you want to reschedule, not if you cancel), this happend a long time ago, 2 years ago. Since then I passed all my exams with good scores and this year I'm preparing for the interviews. I was reading the "getting into a residency" book by Isserson, and I read there about "attemps" and how an exam can appear there....and I panicked....that maybe my "not taken" exam will appear as "incomplete" or with an "indeterminate score". Thanks to all. Leila

i dont think you have to worry...i think prometric just marks it as a "no show," but it is not scored. you just pay when you reschedule, or you can pay when you tell them it was cancelled. just call prometric and reschedule. i've cancelled the morning of the exam before, and they told me it means a "no show," but im almost positive it doesnt count as an attempt on you usmle/ecfmg transcript. i'm not sure what "incomplete" or "indeterminate score" means, but i think that is when you start the exam, and then dont finish it. i hope.

yes, sleepy_student, I hope that too..... anyway I received an PM from someone telling me that it doesn't count and that I should relax. I don't know where that message went, because it disappeared as soon as I read it.....hmmm...interesting.....I might have done something....anyway I thank that person, whoever it is..... Thanks ! Leila

yes but i have cancelled and u have to pay for that as well if it's within the 5 days, trust me, i've moved and paid way more for these exams than the cover price of $695, hehehee.. but yes i called tha tmornin of, and to make sure it was cancelled,b/c u are within the 5 days, they want their money, so i' had paid to make sure nothing shows up.. sure if u did not click start, then yes it was not an attempt, so that's for sure, as for prometric and the fees, well again that'd probably be best dealt with promteric themselves, best of luck!

yes hottie99 I know...but I was talking about cancelling for good (i guess was my last day of my extended sched. period)...you know? just finished, kaput, adios... .....so i just didn't go, let them keep their money and...payed again .....next year....it was bs...i wasn't ready...i don't know why I made the appointment anyway......it was horrible anyway, because i felt "not capable" of doing it...ahhhh I don't want to think about it........now is all fine, passed my Step1 , only concerned about my USMLE transcripts..... Luck luck luck, to everyone!!!!!

From all that i know, It should not count as an attempt. Its just a no-show. But, If you wanna be sure, calling ECFMG or emailing them would be the best thing to do.

hey.. i've just been thru this! i had my exam this morning.. my bad luck the office was still close due to national memorial day holiday. I wasn't aware of it because I'm in canada. So i wasn't able to cancel at all. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. Can someone tell me how much it would cost? I'm hoping it's not the whole exam fee.

hi everybody, i called ecfmg and they said that if i didn't start the exam it's a no show. So this "no show" will be listed in my USMLE TRANSCRIPTS? i is "no show" bad? (for the residency programs I mean). I will look bad on paper now? I admit I worry tooo much...I am just stressed, because if it will count on my file and I won't get interviews I will blame myself , that I wasn't cautious enough to cancel my exam.... nav99, well, my story is strange, because I DID receive a letter, I still have it today (from 2006)....that my score report is available (!!!!! WHAT SCORE REPORT?..because I didn't sign in to the center) , but ECFMG is unable to release it, because they haven't had received verification from my medical school that i'm a student officially enrolled in.......so then I applied again for step1 and I went to the exam and I passed and no news about the old "no show"....so that's why I didn't understand. So NO, I DIDN"T RECEIVE A LETTER THAT I DIDN"T APPEAR TO THE EXAM. sorry doc99, I have no idea about the fee you ask. L.

I just read this in USMLE Bulletin of information: "If you register for but do not begin an examination, no record of the test will appear on your transcript." L.
