I dont think I get ur question....SCID is a congenital immunodeficiency while AIDS is the final manifestation of HIV infection...2 different diseases...AIDS happens in kids too...

warning : this is NBME II question. for all those who have not taken NBME II.

this is a difficult question.

both wings of immunity humoral and cell mediated are affected. so B plus T cell disorder. it can be SCID / AIDs or even Digeorge ( first T cell is affected and then later B cells )

the patients age is critical to answer this question. i think its something between C and D . i choosed the option D while i was doing nbme. i m not sure if i got it right !

this is C) I think....ur right its too young for AIDS especially cause the manifestations are right from birth...DiGeorges is unlikely though they can present with SCID phenotype but without any cardiac problem, no hypogammaglobulinemia or hypocalcemia...i'd go with SCID

ohh the question is now deleted! i suggest instead of deleting the question. the topic's title should have been changed to NBME !
