First Aid for USMLE Step 1 is a very good book. But most likely, Yes, you will need to read more books in order to score well on the exam. If you like you can check out this thread:

thanks praying4a99~ i will go check them!
by the way, how long do you think it's enough to be well prepared for step 1..?

That depends on many factors. Students in the US can do it in about 2 months but International medical graduates may take upto 6 months or so.

3 months ideal time for prep provided u wont have any distractions , it also allows some space for unexpected squandering of time.

6 months for working docs

my POV

try visiting few ppls prep journals for step 1

and also the 2008 study plans discussion thread

and formulate ur very own study materials and plan customised for u

A book which i love to read may not have the suitable format / pattern / presentation of the material for u to learn or read

A lot of it depends where are at right in terms of study. If you are Student who has just finished the Pre -clinical Stuff. then you will require less time than normal. If you are a grad (recent) then 3-4 months tops if an older grad then 6 months.

FA is a review book and is not by all means a stand alone book. So you have to combine books. There are lot of thread or topics based on such things. You have to pick and chose your own strategy.

Best of Luck And feel free to ask questions.

You can do a first read of your materials. Then, take an assessment exam, and see how long you would like to continue studying.

Or, if you are very confident, you can start with an assessment exam and plan your schedule based on your score.
