HI everyone, I matched to a place which offers H1b visa. My program co-ordinator sent the application for the license on April 20th, now she says, it takes 3-4 weeks for the license to be approved. Can someone please tell me that can I file for H1B visa without the state license, if I wait for filing for H1b visa (till the license comes) it will be toooo late, as I have to join on June 23rd and even if I go for premium processing, I cant expect my I 797 till June 20th. And then only I will be able to take the visa date... So in total I might have to join late, 20-30 days later than anticipated date.

My PC said if I join late, I'm not getting any vacation. :-(

So please someone tell me that can I file for H1B visa without the state license?

Well the PC told me that usually it takes around 3-4 weeks or more, all I can do is sit and wait, but the thought of me losing the vacation isnt that pleasant confused

I dont know which state medical license did you apply for, but mine was Ohio, and i heard similar stuffs from PC as well as the licensing board however i was surprised that my acknowledgement letter was dispatched within a week while license was issued within two...and by the way, H1 can be filed on just acknowledgement letter issuance.

keep checking your application status on medical board's website

good luck

I applied for Massachusetts, the website said 6-8 weeks and they seem to be taking all of that!! Also my PC said they just cant begin any proceeding for H1b till the license comes thru....i mean the approval....and physicians cannot contact the med board...it has to be thru the program...hence I need that lucksad

hey my case is in DC. the DC license board said they are not going to process any license applications till early July !!!!!

Hence my attorney is going to file my petition based on the submission of license application proof. He feels there wont be a problem.

Any one who has gone thru such a stuff before and succeeded ?

i dont understand why would it take the boards so long in order to issue the "Acknowledgement Letter", because H1 petition can be filed with just that letter...

anyway good luck guyz

I have not received any acknowledgement letter from the Board. I will contact them in the morning. I need to file for H1B asap. Else I will be very late in joining the residency. I heard these days its taking a very long time for License approval. Anybody else in my boat?

I was wondering whether someone else is in my boat or not?!
I wrote to my program regarding the acknowledgment letter, but they say they havent even received that, while i have been contacted twice by the board for corrections...dunno what it happening...I know this is very negative but has anyone ever heard of not being able to join residency because of licensing delaysconfusedshaking head...am getting nightmares

mukho don't panic! I spoke to my PC and she said that if the visa gets delayed what happens is the person joins late and he/she is deprived of the vacation. I am sure you wont lose the position..
