he ----i cud not understand the quote made by dr. goljanmad

===IN CASE of prostatic hyperplasia while doing digital rectalexamination, the levels of PSA won't increase because it is an antigen.

However, the levels of PAS(prostatic acid phosphatase) will increase since it is an enzyme====

Can anyone please make it clear to me. its urgent

Although i dont know the answer exaclty, but PSA is an antigen and a protease, its written in the Robbins. PSA levels are high in prostate CA,but other conditions where PSA level can be in the gray zone , i mean raised to a lesser extent, are prostatitis, prostate hyperplasia, instrumentation, etc.

one thing i would like to ask is the difference btw PSA and PAP? is this PAP also organ specific like PSA or not?
