  Well guys, i have started a new series of discussion on most difficult topics in physiology for your understanding. The first one is dp/dt. It explained in kaplan physio, but quite vaguely. please contribute.Thanks

Well dp/dt ratio indicate the rate of pressure development during the isovolumetric contraction phase of the cardiac cycle. If this ratio is increased then the rate of pressure development is increased. This happens when there is increase in contractility. so if dp/dt increased (slope is increased) ventricle will rapidly develop active tension due to increased contractility. so this ratio can also be used as an indice of contractility. can you tell me another indice which is more commonly used.

well, it is included, the real indice is Ejection fraction which is : Stroke volume/end-diastolic volume.
