Hi, I'm from Romania and I need some help. I have just visited usmle-test-prep.com/usmlebooks.htm and there I saw a list of books for preparing the test (17 books for step 1 ). can u tell me if studying these books is enough for passing step 1 test? is it necessary to buy kaplan's books or kaplan's qbank?

Hi Elena. FA is requiered but is not enough. I suggest 1 book of every subjectFor example BRS or HY or kaplan. I am studying for HY and BRS. I going to take my exam in #1 may. I can tell you how much value were these books for me. I think the most important is not how many books you read,it is most important to understand and remember the information. See you

I also think that First Aid 2004 is a very good review material. You can have a book for each subject too... but you can also use kaplan study materials. Just like what they said... what is important is how well you understand the concepts. Q bank is a very good idea because you need to use those questions as tools for studying. They said... answer as many questions as you can while reviewing. Good luck to you and have a nice day

Hey Colombia you are pretty close to your day, I wish the best, you will make it .My test will be on may-26-04, I had studied BSR books for each matter , but believe me I don't remmember all that I had studied. Today I am just getting into FA, I think that FA is a very good book, but all depends,if you finish your school a few month ago, it will be helpful if you just get FA, but if you are like me, finish my school almost 15 years ago, you have to review the BRS for esch matter. Wish the best for everyone. I almost forgot look into this forum, Is there a lady (well sorry I don't know her or him very sorry) her or his name is MAGE, she give some advices and she mention some very but very good books, she got 99% on USMLE step 1, so she is the one who get experience on the test and also a very but very good grade.
