Hi everybody !

Throughout my studying I found this forum very helpful (too bad I discovered too late), I read other's people experiences and did some qs in the support forum, I decided now to share my CK experience.

I did it this tuesday April 29. Got at Prometric a little bit ahead of time, very nice people, bring a sandwich, coke and chips and it was enough.

I got a lot of Internal Medicine questions, followed by pediatrics, then equally distributed in Surgery and OBGYN, very little about statistics Psy and ethics.

Lots of Qs about Renal disease, lytes, glomerulonephritis, Cardiac defects, immunodeficiencies (eg Wiskott-Aldrich, etc).

Know very well about HIV and vaccines.. prophylaxis..

Not a single Qs about MEN types or developmental milestones.

About the breaks distribution, It is imperative to skip the tutorial so you can have 15 more minutes to your break time. I took a break on every block, first break just for about 3 minutes to wash my face and streighten my legs, and from that moment on i spent about 5 minutes per break saving some time for lunch (20 minutes) and before the last block (about 13 minutes).

1 hour after lunch I got sleepy.. so my advice.. Bring a Red Bull or something to keep you alert after lunch...

Anyway.. I tought this Step was much more approachable than Step 1, I finished not feeling too bad but instead, with a weird sense of happiness (dont know if 'cause I felt it was easy or 'cause I was done with the steps).

So, my advice to you, is to read your material from any source (I Used Kaplan notes and vids, Blueprints, FA and Qbook), know very well the topics mentioned and DO lots of questions for about 2 whole weeks before the test. Take it esay, dont panic.

Best Wishes, JCALA.

Hi! I am actually preparing for step 1 now. But I wouyld like to gather some information about CK also. I am not able to get a clearcut guideline regarding books, how to study for this exam. So, could you just tell me what books I should study for Step 2 CK....and how I should prepare for it. Thanks.

Thanks guys..

Now I have to wait for a month for the result.. I hope it's a good one..

Regarding studying books Royaldoc99.. I did Kaplan Notes and Vids on my own and found it very VERY useful, I totally recommend it, then do some cramming with FA and it is ABSOLUTELY recommended to do questions blocks just like the exam (46-50 qs / hour), that'll do it.

Now it is time for me to relax, wait for the results.. and start studying for CS !!

About time.. that depends.. I work 44h/week so it took me more time than a lot of people, I had to study on my free time, and distribute it between my girlfriend/family/studying.. I did it in about 7 months but didn't watch the Surgery tapes and GYN because I felt strong in such areas. Maybe if you dont have to work and have all the time for studying, the you could have it done in about 4 months.

I really liked the IM tapes.. very concise, Dr. Fisher vids are a Must ! should also watch Statistics, OBG, and pediatrics. Emergency Medicine is a waste of time.. Surgery and GYN I cant give an opinion 'cause didn't watch them.

Final recomendation, do lots of Qs.. I did Qbook 2007 and found very similar qs in the real exam.
