Sorry to hear the news. Did you finish UW and NBME? I felt UW is the most helpful resource. Stick to it.

hey guyz, i got my reult today and i was surprised when i saw the fail, i got 178/72, well i thought about every possibility but to fail, that was so surprising!!! the score report stated that am poor in understanding mechanisms of diesease, also i was below average in pediatrics and obs/gyne, actually that was my fault, cuz i studyed them from bluprints and in 2 weeks time, i should have studyed them from kaplan as i did good in IM which i studyed from kaplan!!! well thats a reason for my failiar, another reason which was very important was THE DAY OF THE EXAM, well i went there at time but guess what i started my exam 3 hours later!!!! i started at 10:15 am and finished at 7:15pm!!!!! imagine the stress i had through this time!!! well to make it even worse, i had a headache that was realy realy unbearable, i tryed 3 pills of taylnol but didnt help, its like when i take a break my headache slightly calms down but once i set behind the pc the headache comes back again, till the extent where for the last 3 blocks i didnt even think about the questions i just wanted to finish!!! i realy dont know what to do now, i already passed cs, but i didnt take my step 1 yet, and i was planning to take it on october, and i already started studying!!! or should i stop thinking about the states and do residency in my home country?? soo confusing i am an IMG, and i dont know what to do now, should i carry on studying step 1 and study well in it then do step 2 where i will work harder on my week points and also my step 1 would help me to get a better score!!! what u think guyz need ur advice plz thank u alll

sorry to hear that, but it sounds from your words that you're not ready to give up yet [ which is great ] so in my opinion I would say go for step-1 now as you was planning as nothing happened , just aim for the highest score possible, and then after you finish it retake step-2 again , and as you said step-1 will help you in it.., all the best of luck

I'm very sorry to hear that I have several questions for you 1- Did you took any NBME exam? if yes what were your scores? 2- You took your test 3 hours late? that actually means you lost 3 block worth of time? if you sstarted at 10:15 am and finish at 7 15 it seems you had the entire time. 3- Did you use any practice questions to prepare for the test? like kaplan qbank or usmle world 4- Because you have not study for step1 and have not gone over the pathophysiology for step 1 that could be a reason why you got low score in understanding mechanisms of diesease. You have CS passed and that is the most expensive test. You already paid for step 1 you can't change that. So I think that you could study for your step1 prepare very well and you have a good general idea about the material for step 2ck and that will help you with some tyhings for step1. Some people may think different but that is my opinion. Keep trying

hello! i would suggest you to do step1 first. it will lay the foundation for your step 2. step2 becomes very easy ( relative) when you have already studied for step1. make sure you choose the right books for step 1. for pathology i recommend you Goljan along with his audios. search the step 1 forums and you will get a better picture. i wish you all the best and we all learn from our failures. Good Luck

I'm sorry to hear about your score mr.blue. Hopefully, you'll do better next time. Try to focus on what you can change about the way you study next time. Do you think you did badly because of the time management?

hey gogeta, 1-well i didnt take nmbe 2- i had to wait these 3 hours to start the exam, no time was deducted, but i was talking about the stress of waiting for 3 hours in the exam center before starting, where others started earlier when they where in there full energy!! it was a problem with the center! 3- i did use uw 1 month but it wasnt that indicative, cuz i used it to study, but i started in the range of 47, o endded at 65-68! did kaplan 1 month but not fully thank u for ur words take care and good luck

hey white rose, yea time managment was a big issue to me, and it did play a major role in me doing badly, so if u r not good in it u should practice mastering it with uw! its a very imortnant aspect while u do ur exam thanks take care

Yea, I'm trying my best to make sure I finish questions on time. I am not sure how it'll be on the real exam since many UW questions are not that long whereas I've heard on the real exam they are much longer and majority are long. I really wish you the best of luck on your exam! Don't give up hope!
