Hi guys, Thought I will post my exam experience for those yet to take this exam. I studied seriously for about 1month for 2-6hrs per day after work (working full time, matched IMG for 2008). Exam Date : March 7/8 -2008 Report: April 30: - 235/97. Prep materials: Step 2 CK First Aid. This book is fantastic for the exam. Much better than the Step 3 FA. If you have taken Step 2 recently it is even better. I took Step 2 a year ago. I used Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatments to read up on common topics like MI and Diabetes. I made a list of common topics and read them from this book, making notes in my FA. This strategy was very useful to me. USMLE World: Awesome resource. This is certainly a must. The questions are like the real exam although World is a lot harder. I did most of my Uworld in tutorial mode and my average was 60%. Also the CCS questions from UWorld were very helpful, and of course practice with the USMLE CD for the CCS Exam Itself Seemed harder than I thought. A lot of the questions were ambiguous and I narrowed down to two for most of them and just had to pick one and move on. Hence after the exam I was really anxious even sometimes thinking I wouldn't pass!! The questions are really similar to Step 2 except there is more outpatient questions and day to day practical medicine. I had one video clip and it was easy. Questions length was not too long except of course those psychiatry questions! Pediatrics featured prominently in my exam The CCS questions were mostly straightforward and ended early for me except for two out of the nine that were prolonged and one of my patients did not get better although I thought I had the diagnosis and was treating appropriately. My encouragement I will say just be confident, and believe you can make it. I am an old IMG (1998 graduate) and haven't practiced medicine for 5 years now. Took both step 1 (236/98) and Step 2 (235/96) in January and March 2007 and matched to a very good university program. A family man with two kids and working full time I really struggled to study, but it has all turned out well. So don't give up, if some of us could do it, I am sure you can do even better. I am glad to say goodbye to this exam. God bless you all for your help in this forum
