Hi all,
I'm preping for step 2, planning to give soon. While solving UW qbank I got some questions directly requiring info from step1 like side effects of antipsychotics, lab/microscopy of membrenous glomerulonephropathy. For step 1 which I gave ~8 months before I read first aid for such key pts- now forgotten somewhat. So for step 2 do I need to know step 1 info? if so how much? how much time I need to be give to step 1 stuff for step2- say 1/2 hrs/day or 1/2 hrs/wk. Let me know.

Please don't worry about step 1 stuffs in Step 2 exam.
Everyone has forgotten most of the facts from step 1 when they sit for step 2.
Also there are people who take step 2 first without ever been studied for step 1.
I am very sure we don't need to revise step 1 stuffs in preparation for step 2.
Though UW has some questions like that, I didn't see any step1things in my real exam.

few drug mechanism questions i had, but other than that, if u've done uworld a lot of the pathophysio type questions are covered, it's not necessary to go back to u FA for step 1, tho i did for neuro and endo, just because i could look up things faster, and i was glad i did that, but to each their own.. it is not vital to go over step 1 materials all over agin if that is what ur askin.. just perhaps FA (from clinical portion and fwd) but pharma is the most likely for them to ask mechanism and that if u do the pharm section of FA is ok.. hope it helps! good luck!

I'm planning to give my step 2 exam before step 1 and actually I've heard that certain topics are important from step 1 like immune deficiencies and pathophysiologies, etc. Can anyone else suggest what bits of step 1 helped them in their step 2 exam?

when u do the kaplan/uworld for step 2, they will go over in detail, so dont worry about looking up specifically in step 1 stuff, they cover it all, and if anything u can go thru first aid for step 1, but since u'll be taking notes on uworld, it covers all pathophysio of questoins, since step 2 does like to ask those as well.. as well as pharm mechanisms.. best of luc!!
