I am a bit confused regaring why there is bleeding in Uremia? and also why the pericarditis of Uremia is painless??

uremia causes functional platelet abnormality...meaning the platelet count remains normal but they dont function properly......about painless pericarditis.....i think all pericarditis have pain- sharp/positional...are you sure uremic pericarditis is painless?

ohh okay. that means thrombocytopathy, not thrombocytpopenia though. i heard that there is increased fragility of the blood vessels too,causing bleeding.

yah, it was asked by my Professor yesterday in the viva, and i am sure its painless but dunno y...confused

In this case it is going to be serous pericarditis which is usually asymptomatic. I hope somebody can give us more info...

Where did you come across that info. cos i thought it also had painful pericarditis.

"Serous pericarditis is due to a small amount of exudative effusion with few inflammatory cells. It is usually caused by.... uremia...It is usually asymptomatic...may be present as a ...chest ache."
