HI everyone, I have been reading the posts and I am very impressed by how motivated everyone is. Iam planning on taking the exam at the end of july, started study today and I barely got 7hrs of studying. How do u guys keep motivated enough to do 10hrs+ everyday. Also, can anyone tell me if I should do both UW and Kaplan Q bank or is UW alone enough? thanx U all have inspired me

WELCOME to this forum. This is where I got my motivation to start from too!!!! (Otherwise my books just sat on my shelf for half a year!!!!!). Yeah...ther is something about this forum unlike the other forums .....People here are very nice....You will feel very much at home and they are awlways there to help each other. I love this forum! First finish all the Kaplan Lecture notes and DVDs. (For Pathology use Goljan) .Then start the Kaplan QBook and UW. After that you can do as many questions from any good sites if you still have time. Oh...and dont forget FA!!! Its a very lengthy preparation. So, get started. Good Luck.

Welcome to the forum! We all are sure we'll also benefit from you. ROyalDoc gave you a very good advice. If you follow it you will do great. About hours a day... I don't believe 10+ hours is very productive. It gets you tired and your brain can't take that much effort. I think a study method in which you study effectively should not exceed 6 hours a day. However - medical material is lengthy and the exam needs to be prepared in short time (3 months) so I guess you should not study more than 8 hours. I believe you should dedicate intervals of 40 minutes of active study with 10 min. breaks in between, so that your brain catches the material more effectively. For me the hardest part is motivation, and procrastination. I know how I should study - but putting off procrastination - that's the main problem for me. Good luck with the preparation and don't forget to have fun! Pathology is an uplifting subject!

Yeah....you dont have to study for 10+ CONTINUOUS hours! Do one or two chapters at a stretch....Then get up and go clean some untidy place in your house or do some cooking!!! When you have cooked your snack, then come back and do two more chapters or listen to a DVD lecture. Then go make some cofee or some soothing relaxing green tea for fifteen- twenty minutes....then sit down again to study for two hours....then may be log into this forum and come chat with us ( which is what I am doing now ). Then go study again.....So this way...if you take useful breaks in between you are thinking about the chapter in your mind while cleaning, cooking etc. And at the end of the day it still turns out to be 10+ hours of studying ( unless you have spent the entire afternoon attending a beach party!). Oh and its a good idea to give up TV!!!! I personally dont watch TV at all.....I have disconnected the cable and nobody in my house is fond of watching TV anyway...unless you are one of those baseball fans glued to the tube all day!!!....Internet is my thing. Otherwise a 3 hour movie on TV just kills your day!!! News is fine however...but no more than 15-20 minutes. Anyway, enough chatting....got to hit the books again now! Bye!!!! Good Luck.
