Dear BBB,

I am a FMG that wish to start IM this year but unfortunately I was unable, because I failed the CSA in the first attempt ,and when I took it again in early January , and when I received the results( I passed) was too late for interviews. I finally find a position in a Transitional Year Program. I would like to know if after I finish the transitional year I would be able to start IM (categorical) as a PGY 1 or I must start as a PGY 2.

Thank you,

Hi Skaplan,
I did get it during the scramble , and just now I am worry if I will be able to start IM in the PGY1 instead of PGY2.

It would depend on what the program would need - a first year or second year and how many months of medicine (true IM rotations) you completed. We have take Trans persons as PG2's in the past when all the criteria are met.

Good luck
