Thanks shwe.. Here is my prep post.. I started preparing for CK 6-7 months before but I had to take a break of 1&1/2 months when I went to home. I felt that on an average prep of 4-5 months should be enough for anyone. To have the baseline I started with 1 NBME, scored decently (though not satisfactory). I tried to read kaplan for a couple of days but didn't like it because at that time I thought everything was so not-specific. I was not getting what areas to concentrate. So I left the kaplan notes and bought UW. It helped me a long way. After starting off really well in UW, my scores slid off many a times (including many 50s and low 60s). Finished off with cumulative of 75%. I knew that it was pretty good score considering the fact that it was just the beginning. After finishing UW, i had got much of an idea what CK is all about. One mistake I did during UW was that I didn't do the explanations well. I even left 50% explanations unread. It showed its effect. My cumulative decreased as the time passed whereas it should have gone up otherwise. I really liked doing Qs, so after finishing UW, I took kaplan Qbank. Didn't like it much but helped to practice some more Qs. At last, I took the kaplan notes. Now I had better feeling about the notes. Started noticing those important points that I could not see initially. I simply loved the surgery notes. Each line in it can be transformed into a really good question. Meanwhile I also read the explanations in the UW with each subject. Made notes from kaplan and UW. I referred to internet and textbooks (specially harrison's) a lot. Whenever I saw something new or found something confusing, I googled it. Most useful websites where emedicine and wiki. After finishing the kaplan, I tried to read FA & crush. Could not read more than few pages. Didn't like it. I felt I know all other stuff except "THE NEXT BEST STEP" and they didn't give it either in the way I wanted. I made many flow chart to help me choose THE NEXT STEP for each step. Meanwhile I took NBMEs to keep the confidence up. i had a big frineds group as support and they didn't let my confidence to go down anytime. Never felt any anxiety. Not even on the test day except after finishing the test. one more thing, I listened to Dr conrad fischer's lectureDVDs twice. First time, because a friend had suggested that they are gooooodd. Second time, for entertainment purpose. A good prep of step1 really helps. UW before Kaplan helps if you have strong basic concepts and you already know some stuff. I have already described the exam day in the first post. That's it. Any questions/comments welcome. Back to CS prep again. I am struggling seriously. Need a lot of practice. Don't have much time. Hope everything goes fine.
