Hello friends..
It's been a long since I posted in the forum. that doesn't mean I didn't visit here. I was too busy(lazy??!!) to put anything. Anyways I am back after a loooooong spring semester in my MPH course, tired of the job and public health courses which I hate in the beginning and start loving them at the end of the semester.
Updates from me. Wrote CK 2 weeks ago so still waiting for the report. I have scheduled CS on 13th may. Missdeja canceled her plan to apply this year (joined decision) so I am not going to couple match this year.
I am writing the exam day experience. Will write about the preparation after the score report comes to make sure what is advisable .
first of all, it's a long long exam and you can easily freak out just because of it's length if you've not practiced earlier for sitting those long hours on computer solving questions. The tough questions can easily get on your nerves if you have not expected them to appear before entering the exam room. So expect a big number of questions where you are stuck on 2 options. CK is all about diagnosis and primary management so 2 most common pattern was "what is the most likely diagnosis?" & "What is the next step in the management/diagnosis?"
I had gone to the exam center for the NBME field trial for CK 2 months before the test, and that had helped to relieve a much of an anxiety about the exam and the place.
My targets were set. Wanted 250 atleast. Had prepared fairly enough for that. NBMEs also supported that (790 & 800).
i went in with the plan of finishing each block before 50 minutes. i had thought if I'd be able to mark less than 10 Qs a block I am doing good.
I was able to achieve the first target easily but I got many Questions where I was clueless (never happened that before). There were many where I was stuck at more that 2 options (I didn't expect this either).
This is approx distribution of Qs:
Internal Medicine (~50%) with a lot of genito-urinary Qs
Ob-GY (>15%) that's also genito...
Very few ethics Qs  (I felt so good about it)
But very few Biostats  (I wanted them as many as possible)
Peds, Surg and rest of Psych were evenly distributed.
A couple of moderately difficult audio-visuals.
Questions were longer than I had ever seen. Answers were more difficult than what I expected.
To sum up,
I didn't feel well after the test. For 2 days I just obsessively thought about the confusing questions and the ones that I did wrong and now i know their answers. It looked like I would not reach the score I dreamed of.
But then I talked with a couple of friends and came to know that it's a normal feeling after step2CK. Now i trying hard to repress the thoughts about the exam. I will start preparing for CS from may1 so I know that time's gonna fly so fast afterwards.
Keeping my fingers crossed. Praying hard..

Yes of course I meant your score.. So what are you doing these days. I have started feeling that after working all these years I have kind of lost the ability to just rest and doing nothing. Is this what everybody calls "workoholic"? anyways good luck to youtoo. I am sure you've done excellent. keep in touch.

yeah exactly the same here, i cant sit still, i have developed this habbit of sitting for hours and study. a geek? a bookworm? i dont know. thats not me but i feel im one of them now.
just try to keep your self busy in other things and im sure you will be cool. and since your CS is in a few days there is no room for distractors.
