hey doc 123... all the best... do study and keep your spirits high... let me tell u someting about forums... no offense to anyone... its good to come here ...browse... learn wat u can... but dont become overly dependant on it... u will waste too much time....
and dont feel u dont have any friends here... it does feel good wen someone replies to u n offers u some encouragement... but hey pl snap back to reality! this is some stranger somewhere and u are depending onnthis for motivation!! dont do that!..
u have to motivate yourself... the spirit lies within u!
so use this place if it benefits u... if it does not... forget it... its u who has to study..

  #7

@ Boy Wonder & Deepa 99 .
Thanks for the words of encouragement and dropping. Yes I will continue to come Back here again and again. Its meaningless and much more tougher to work alone for targets then when you have people around you. These words of encouragement means a lot. Thats why one should study n groups. But again words of Deepa 99 if its benefits you. Yes people around me will benefit me. Who can live alone.
As ur selected nickname shows Deepa 99 --- aiming for 99.

Wish both of you best of luck

Thanks luck08 for ur words of encouragement.

As my mom used to sing when i was child:

Sunshines after the dark
Better days will come after the night

Brave man with their armour shine
Sail through the dark to the better days

I think i wrote this with little change
Hope so this is not a copyrighted material.

My first line Motivation is the key of Success, Dont let yourself down at any point in life, You are the Best , You are the best

Well Well , Behind the Target

Done with CVS Pharmacology-- Basically ending up reading whole chapters from Katzung as USMLE Road Map is not covering materials in depth. I have listened , they do ask mechanism of actions and mechanism of clinical effects and mechanism of toxicities.

Next Target
1. Drugs for Allergy, Inflammation and Blood Immune Disorders
2. Central Nervous System Drugs.

Both from USMLE Road Map & Katzung Review.

Goljan Pathology Audio --- Gastroenterology
Goljan Rapid Review ---- Gastroenterology (To follow).

THEN

Goljan Pathology Audios ---- Hepatic & Pancreatic Disorders
Goljan Rapid Review ----- Hepatic & Pancreatic Disorders( To follow)

I think this should be enough even for following week.

Construction Work at home. Thats hampering my speed. NO EXCUSES myself. On a road to success I will carry the Flag of Success through the deep Seas and High mountains and to make my flight Successful , to myself and others to Say "I ACED MY EXAM WITH FLYING COLORS".

As My first line Says "Motivation is the key of Success, Don't let yourself down at any point in life, You are the Best , You are the best".

Hi ......... do not buy 2008 FA yet , since too early if u will do exm in DEc , by Nov sometuimes even Oct end the 2009 FA will b out .

But if u do not mind getting 2 FA then go for 2008 FA which is good, better than 2007 .
Then by Nov , Dec get 2009 FA .

GL nod

  #16

If 2008 FA is good then i might go for it, as I dont want to keep studying Basic Sciences till 2009

Cost Rs 100 approx. here

grin

  #17

Hi dr123, is ur plan the same of finishing pharma after physio, or are u mixing subjects up for a change?

Pharma is just one of the 7 subs, so i guess taking one book is enuff! Drinking FA will be the key! I am into my third week e pharma second read, am dammn disappointed! What abt you!

@ Hai Dowjunk

How r u doc. Sounds like stuck in Pharma. Well this is my first read. In order to keep pace, i am studying One subject actively i.e Pharma and other subject just an hour or two like listening simply to Goljan Audio for an hour/ day. But I am giving most of my time to Pharmacology. Now after listening all lectures for same chapter (GIT). I will give a day or two reading that chapter. But I am reading Cover to Cover - First Read.

Choose Style which best suits you as per schedule.

Lets say, Seeing a chapter passively on call days and rereading it actively on Post call day.In this way you will save time while rereading same stuff. If you can see pages of book on call days.

In Pharmacology, most important points to note as guys told me;

1. Mechanism oF Action.
2. Mechanism of Clinical Effects.
3 Mechanism of Toxicities.
4 Drug Interactions ( Very Important)

No Matter which book you are studying-- I think USMLE emphasis is on WHY WHY WHY & WHY.

Yes One Book is enough for Pharmacology and I am ending up rereading Same topics from KATZUNG REVIEW simply because of same reason WHY WHY WHY & WHY.

2. kaplan lecture on GIT.

3..Read Chapter of Gastroenterology from Rapid Review Goljan.

NOTHING EXCEPT 99, NOTHING EXCEPT 99, NOTHING EXCEPT 99.

Thx dr123.............yeah i am done e pharmasmiling face.....mechanism and interactions is all that i have crammed. The rest kept on getting evaporated so i have just chalked out only the important clue point/side effects of the drugs! like phenytoin/hirstsm/gum hypsia etc!

I liked the idea: All CNS drugs are lipid sol/liv met until mentioned! And all antibios are kidneyphilic until pointed out! So that kind of floating helps the kinetics part!

WHY WHY WHY is a good way of keepig on track, dr123........U Rock!
