This is the last case (31) of FA 2nd edition. 25yoM with a h/o a MVA( and infectious mono nucleosis 2 wks back), now presents with chest pain and LUQ pain. He has no neurological complaints now or at the time of the MVA. I cant understand why a complete neuro exam (including mental state) is required. In any case, if I get this case on the exam, I dont think I'd have time for a neuro exam after doing a thorough chest and abdo exam..

mini mental status exam..could be to check his orienattion to time place and person...to rule out head contusion or the likes ..its possible he could have hit his heead during the MVA

i dont have 2nd edition FA ..so havent read the cases...but i guess that could be the reason.
