hi study499, Keep it going and give your best. Everyone has ups and downs with this prep; not just with study time but also with scores. Try not to read anything new when you are very close to exam (within 2 weeks), rather consolidate the facts you already know. Your plan sounds reasonable. Keep it going, i will be praying for you and for all of us through this journey.

Hi study499, you have the right spirit. I have confidence in you that you will turn this around quickly. Focus on doing more Qs and study them thoroughly. Work efficiently with a positive attitude. Right now it is just a small challenge to your will and determination. Let's fight back and win the battle. Technically, try to figure out whether those mistakes are due to thinking process or knowledge. UW can have some quite new or strange stuff that are not covered by any material. It is important to know whether the tested topic is in FA or not. Know your FA well. If you can handle all the questions that can be covered by FA, you are in a great shape. Please stay positive by all means. It is just a test and life is much bigger than Usmle. Put all we have on the table, we will leave no regret whatsoever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1HheJV-pNM&eu... Please take time to watch this video. This video is sure to touch you and change you forever. Just watching this video is sure to overwhelm you tears. This video is a tribute to Terry Fox. Terry’s spirit is something that is made of the stuff of legends. He was truly a great man and the few years that he lived brought nothing but joy and blessing to all.Terry was very passionate about sports. He was not tall like the bigger kids around him. But what he lacked in height he more than made up by the sheer capacity of his determination. He was good in cross country running and also in swimming. Unfortunately, when Terry was only 18 years old when he was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) and forced to have his right leg amputated 15 centimetres (six inches) above the knee in 1977. Marathon of Hope: Instead feeling down, disheartened and hopeless, Terry started working on his new prosthetic leg. Though his family wept, he felt blessed on having beaten cancer. (He thought he had.) Terry Fox had a dream. And the dream was to collect one dollar from every Canadian by running across Canada and then use this money for research in a bid to cure or arrest cancer. Fox sent letters to various companies soliciting their sponsorship. The final sentence of his letter was: “…I’m not saying that this will initiate any kind of definitive answer or cure to cancer, but I believe in miracles. I have to.” With dogged determination that was characteristic of him, Terry started his marathon in the fall of 1979. When the news of Terry spread across Canada like wildfire, funds started pouring in. He met the Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. He helped kick start a CFL game between Ottawa and Saskatchewan, kicking the opening ball. There were many other interesting events along the run. Terry was half way cross the journey when he said he felt as if he’d caught a cold. Doctors said that cancer had invaded his lungs. So, Terry arranged a press conference and told reporters he had to go home. He had run 3,339 miles (5,376 km). Terry’s health gradually worsened and by June 28, 1981 Terry Fox died, with his family beside him. By then, Terry Fox had raised $24.17 million, equaling Canada’s population of 24.1 million at the time. This was the dream for which he set about in the beginning. “How many people do something they really believe in? I just wish people would realize that anything’s possible if you try. Dreams are made if people try.” …..Terry Fox

Hi friends, I've been working very hard over last few days...after scoring low in uw, i stopped doing question and started reviewing everything for one more time...done with behavioral, embryo, most of micro and today I started on CVS... plan is to complete this review till the 7th...then start doing only mixed questions...must do abt 150 questions per day in order to finish them in 2 weeks...then NBME...and 1 week to the test... So have exactly 4 weeks to the exam...this time I either take it or I lose it... don't know, how it happened...I had time but lost it somehow...i guess, no point going back...this is all i have now...and to me, it is still possible...even though seems impossible...my friends are telling me that it is impossible to become ready for a high score in 4 weeks, if one is getting low scores in UW 4 weeks prior...so will see...of course have to lose my money if i don't get a good score in NBME...but as now, i will think that i don't have that option of nbme and losing money...and will work day and night to make the impossible, possible........ Today, must complete r/v of CVS, endocrine, mycology and parasitology... Pursuit, simon, usmlekiller, Dr.123......thank u for visiting by Please pray for me, people !!!!

Ppl Do UW despite of low scores, cos u will cover the concepts very well and thats wat is needed in order to do well on the exam. Skipping it will onli dealy ur learning. Dont even think now of acign UW with good scores. My 2 cents. And regarding reapplying... u can talk to me when u strongly decide to do it.

You will make it. I would agree with kalyann though. Do more questions early instead of less. You need to do them and come back latter and work on the ones you get wrong. 4 weeks is a lot of time especially if you are doing it fulltime. Have a solid plan and stick with it. Do more Qs and learn from those mistakes, you will be in a good shape. Nothing is impossible.

THANK YOU so much everyone...your inputs mean a lot to me... today, i decided to definitely sit for my exam this time...It differs if you know that u have an important exam coming up and you have to take it by certain date, than just getting prepared for as long as it takes...YES, 4 weeks is a lot...can do so much...I've been studying on and off with a lot of gaps for a year ...NOW, it's time to get everything into the place...to correlate, wrap up, practice and memorize...if i don't go for it this time, it might take me another few months...becoz, there are always excuses not to do our 100% everyday....and at some point either now or later, i have to give what i haven't so far...no matter what level i am now at, i can improve a lot...i am not aiming for a 99 this time... for that score i need more than a month of solid working...but i am aiming for a score above 90...inshaalah... so most of today went with this realization...and as usual planning on how to attack this 4 weeks with my best shot...as my friends advised me not to delay the questions, had to come with another plan...1st 2 weeks....> learning as much as possible...with 3 blocks of qs a day (9hrs)+7 hrs reading other sources....i.e. 16 hours ....last 2 weeks....>reviewing/nbme... i just don't know what is the best way for me to do the 1st 2 weeks...to cover all the subjects and questions...i have wasted a lot of times before on finding how to do this...but not this time...i will either do the 3 blocks mixed then reading a subject/system, or do a system following with the corresponding questions...will find out tomorrow...

Hi study499 it sounds like your realization is true. It is time to wrap up your efforts so far.......I concur that prolonging is not going to help you be at your 100% everyday. I am almost in the same boat as you and I dont have the luxury of 16 hours a day as I work. So give it all you got - that's pretty much what we can do. May God bless your efforts. Good luck!

Hi study499, Your positive attitude will carry you through these last 4 weeks. There is no one best plan which will fit for all. Make plans according to your strengths and weaknesses, but remember to cover all, giving more time to your weak areas and at the same time not totally neglecting your strong areas. Get enough sleep so that you dont tire yourself or feel fatigued while reading. All the best.

Hi Study499, as simon73 said, there is no best plan. Just follow your heart and do it as long as you are making progress. Study those Qs from UW and NBME very well, especially NBME, because there might be similar Qs in the real one. NBME is not only a great assessment tool. It is also a great learning tool, regarding to the format, content, logic of the step 1. Don't get overstressed and have plent of rest, especially before the real thing. Pushing forward to take the test is abosolutely the right thing to do. But do make sure you will get a decent score. Good luck to you! I know you will make it!

Thank you so much target,simon,commit and girldoc...without your supports i can easily give it up...thanks a million... aiming 3 blocks of questions a day plus reading my books is very hard...It takes so much time just to go thru the answers...so now, the aim is at least 2 blocks...I am under so much pressure...but will calm down and finish it...I need to focus only on learning...every moment a new point...instead of thinking whether i make it or not... so will have my plans for every single remaining day here and will cross it off at the end of the day: July 4: 1 block of questions 5 : 2 blocks of Q + virology + immuno 6 ; 2 blocks of Q+ Pharm + immuno 7 ; 2 blocks + CVS + biochem 8 : 2 blocks + CVS + biochem 9 : 2 blocks + GIT + bichem 10 : 2 blocks + endocrine + bichem 11 : 2 blocks + hematology + biochem 12 : 2 blocks + neuro + behav. 13 : 2 blocks + neuro + behav. 14 : 2 blocks + neuro + behav. 15 : 2 blocks + musculoskeletal 16 : 3 blocks + renal 17 : 3 blocks + respiratory 18 : 3 blocks + reproductive 19 : 3 blocks + biochem 20: 3 blocks + biochem 21 : 3 blocks+ biochem 22 : NBME 23 24 25 26 27 28 29
