pls help explain the calculation, im not getting it, idont knw how to do probability questions, they driv me nuts!!

i think the ans should be 25%........i am not sure though....... assuming the pt is Aa.......so the son will with either get A or a........so 50% chances of having the disease.........and the daughter has 50% chances of getting the A from her father..........so 50% x 50% = 25%.....i might be wrong.

Yes 25%. Autosomal dorminant disorders pass the gene to half of offsprings. (50%) So, to pass through two generations , the risk become 50% of 50%. (miltiply the two probabilities)= 25%. Hope my explanation works.

I think the man's disease is AR coz it were AD then he would have had severe Hypercholesterolemia b4 age 20.n his son tested negative means he has no hypercholesterolemia. so his daughtre cud have the disease only if she gets it frm her mother.so the ans is 25%
