This is my personal opinion, since I just gave the exam and not got result. I am not an expert. I advise you to read Step 2 CK notes first - if your step 2 was close to step 3 you can start UW questions and make notes. And final revision read CK notes. Swanson - i did not read but i would have if i had more time. About Premier and kaplan step 3 i can say they give you an idea of what is the exam like but don't cover everything. 480 questions on step 3 and 9 CCS cover lot of subjects so I advise you to read as much you can. Got to see many ECGs, X rays and clinical photographs - skin and other. I would say that the USMLE GUYS who make the step 3 exam are the smartest and try all possible ways to test you. Be ready for surprises in your exam. Questions are vague but most rely on evidence based care - like first step, second step or Best step in management. Treatment guidelines, flowcharts, Preventive care, Elderly patient care, Ophthal, ENT,Dermat, Women's health and peds are equal in importance to other medical subspecialties. So DO NOT NEGLECT THEM!! Now focus is shifting to these. Practice CCS on USMLE CD from UW but be prepared to get new CCS cases as a surprise. Remember ER / Office so you won't miss the first step. If I had 6 months to give exam I would read CMDT - But normally we are short of time.THis is the toughest exam I ever gave in my life so I know what to do and what i missed. Questions are very long so timed preparation of random block of questions will help the most. Preferably 48per block. Endurance is the key - Don't lose your mind / strength since you have to get going on exam days- What happens is chronic burn out - makes you slower in real exam and you tend to miss questions and are short of time. your eyes are tired and mind can't register stuff. Sleep well before exam. I just am praying to god that I pass this one. Wish you all the best.

i lost the initiative in the last week of my preparation. I hope I pass this exam. It will be difficult to give it again. There are other people who advise NMS or Kaplan Q bank also - Practice as much as you can. I have not done as many. Thank you for your wishes

Yes I did I don't think it helps since they have changed questions and NBME tests only 164 questions - not a good predictor of an exam which is 2 day long with 480 questions. UW also cannot predict. I would say take the exam when you are confident. There is no cut off. I was running out of time and had to give exam.
