HI IV, CONGRATULATIONS! So u are here finally and I was away, busy with USCE. But now i have to study and get this done as well.

What u need really is UW, FA ur Kaplan notes.Maybe Swanson and boards n wards. First 3 are most imp. at least that's what i heard and collected.

  #37

Sunshine USCE is a must so it was great that you invested time in it. Same thing here I need to get step 3 done. Hopefully it wont be hard to handle USCE and step 3 at the same time. Lets see. I am planning to do USCE for many months just for the heck of been in constant contact with the medical system and some volunteer work in research.

I am so bad with timetables but i wish i can get done step 3 by September. Good luck sunshine!!!

Hi Ivonne, how are things going? I am planning to stay in the doctor's office for more months. Gradually they allow me to do more things, so I have some hands-on experience. Even though it is a private practice, I believe I can learn a lot about American medical system. After all, this is the only I can get. Wish everyting is going well with you.

  #39

Dear njcjzy, things are on track fortunately. I was very lucky to find a doctor in the University of Illinois so finally the opportunity to move definetly to Chicago and start observership/externship has come. It is almost impossible not to have fun in Chicago, there is so much to do here...but starting this Monday I have to be in the Hospital at 8:00am. The activities are basically out patient clinic, in-patients rounds and lectures. I am a little bit nervous but happy since I've been out of practice for a while. It makes sense the importance of USCE in the residency application specially for non-fresh graduates, actually I would say it is a must.

It is for sure that you are already gaining a lot of USCE and specially if you are going to be there for more months. Good for you dear friend! We will get there njcjzy, remember these words by March of 2009. We will make it!

@doc_clotaire: Yeah i keep coming back here but it is hard to focus with many things going on: observership, match season, MSPE, PS, new city, step 3, job hunting, hubby...Good luck to you too!

@smalley: Congratulations for your ck as well usmle mate. My ongoing observership is in Chicago, Illinois. Thanks buddy!

ok, I have to get organized here, todays target:

1.-start working on MSPE that BTW I have to do it and my Collegue just will verify if everything is true gringrin and put the seal.

"MSPE is good to have but don't sweat it if you can't get it" by GLOMD.

2.-Continue working on PS.

"Don't break your head with the personal statement too much as long as it is fluidly written you'll be alright" by GLOMD.

3.-Do you guys know that RMA(registered medical assistant) allows IMGs to take the test for registration. Just heard about this yesterday so i will call them today.

4.-Study something for step 3!!!

Hi Ivonne,

I saw your prep journal in step2 cs and it is such an inspiration for me! I am scared to death that i have only one month left for my cs and about to start my prep for it.I think that u have some effective protocols for that. If u can spare some time and guide me through this...I don't even have a study partner yet.My mail
shantu05@gmail.com
Thanks Ivonne, I really appreciate your help.

  #46

Hi cd45, i understand you but don't panic, don't relax just focus ok.

Those protocols are gone because i just moved but don't worry it took me 10 minutes to make each of them. The key for CS is to PRACTICE early in your preparation so you have to get a phone/online study partner ASAP because it is way more easy and fun to have a study partner for CS(I didn't need study partners for ck or step 1) and START practicing the first case then you will know what you need. It is very important to pick a good study partner whom you feel comfortable with. Say goodbye to study partners that make you feel down because you need to build up CONFIDENCE.

There are a bunch of study partners in the CS forum waiting for you, go get them gringrin but START PRACTICING. Each case should take you less than 25 minutes therefore practice every aspect of the test including the PATIENT NOTE.

No worrries, CS is by far the most easiest test within the USMLEs.

  #49

hey ivvone buddy did u call them for registered PA test????

  #50

Yes, but it is for Registered Medical Assistant not PA. They told me 3 requirements:

1. Diploma or transcripts with respective translation

2. LOR saying that we've worked as a MA for 2 years in US

3. Test in Prometric for MA ($90)
