yes it is recognized.a lot of guys go back after residency to practice in india esp in southern states.

I read this in a newspaper (Indian) a couple of months ago. Till now if you have done your PG/Residency from some place other than India you could work in private practice but not in govt. hospitals only if your graduate level degree is recognized by the virtue of you doing your M.B.B.S from India or by passing exam if you did from outside of India. But from now on you can get your P.G/Residency from any English speaking country and it would be recognized on that level. Hope this helps, this is still a quip from a National daily in India and I would recommend conforming it from MCI.
