I would like to request that a sticky should be made which should tell all members(especially the newbies) what the rules are for posting a question. For instance i didnot know that not adding a disclaimer to a question could be offensive to other members.Any one new to the forum could have done that and would have faced quite a reaction as i have seen a few days back.I guess it would save alot of time and energy of other members as well if rules were mentioned clearly.

And i also think its not fair to tell members new to this forum (who have no idea about the discussions going on regarding writting in proper English and correct spelling ) that their queries will be answered only if they write in proper English. There is no such rule in the rules and regulations section so they can't possibly know it could be an issue here.I personaly get annoyed with the intentional wrong spellings like "d" instead of "the" and "nu" instead of "new" etc etc .But i think its only fair to mention it in the rules section that such language is not acceptable in this forum.

Wasn't sure where to post this request so posted it here.Hope it will be noticed and considered.

Regards.

These two points have been discussed many times. There still isn't a clear rule concerning spelling and grammar. Though this should obvious, properly written comments are much easier to read.

In Step1 forum there are two "stickies" asking members to mention in the thread's title what the question's source is.

yes P4a99..im aware of the disscussion. but thats my point ..im aware of it because i read it after i became a bit familiar with the forum but suppose someone is posting for the first time in this forum he/she cannot have any idea about it right? and if then asked to write in proper English ,he/she might find it wierd, offensive and uncalled for specially because its simply not mentioned anywhere in the rules.I agree it should be obvious and is actually a matter of common sense but we all know common sense is not that commen eh?smiling face

Are you talking about the sticky which says how to post NBME question??i will read it again but as far as i remember it doesnot say that you have to explain all questions you post and if you donot know the explanation or know it but are not sure if it's right ,you have to mention it at the top.Again its a matter of common sense and politness i know but i think it would make everyones job easier if it is simply stated in the rules section.Dont you think so?

Dear toolazy2study...(can i just call you lazy in short??grin) dont be confused ..you dont have to do anythning as a newbie.Just dont use alot of sms language i mean short forms which are not easy for everyone to understand. It has been a topic for debate and many including me agree that it uses up much of our neuron's energy to try and figure out the short forms and we would like to save this energy to study smiling face I would have given u examples from a thread but i dont know how to post the link ( see what i mean when i say im new to this forum)grin

And secondly as i mentioned in my above post if u post any questions the above is expected of you and yes for the copy right thing you should read the rules section too.If u still dont understand what i mean send me a private msg.wink

That's the thing mukho it's NOT a rule but it's disliked generally. That's where the confusion lies for the new comers that why people are objecting and criticizing when there is no such rule.
