I will pass this test on my first attempt I am through with usmleworld first time am using first aid and kaplan step 2 ck notes anybody wish to comment go ahead

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis both of these processes have nonreversible obstruction of the airways.
On Chest X-Ray in chronic bronchitis there is increased pulmonary markings in emphysema there is hyperinflation of bilateral lung fields and diaphragm flattening and small heart size
Diagnosis is by Pulmonary function test reduction in FEV/FVC ratio
The goal in treatment is to treat airway inflammation reduce airway resistance

Anticholinergic drugs ipratroprium control airway caliber and tone first line agents
Home oxygen thereapy should be given to patients with hypoxemia PaO2<55 or saturation less than 85 percent
