I remember for step1 that depending which NBME you took you could increase or decrease your score. Also I remember that depending what score you got you could have a general idea how much you could increase. Not the same going from 450 to 500 than 350 to 400. But as general rule in step1 you increase about 50 points in one month. You could get to 100 points increase. but been realistic about it it was about 50-70 NBME point in a month. SO my question is: FOR step 2 ck is the same as step1? or is it harder to increase your score in step2ck? Also very interesting people say NBME1 easiest NBME2 like the exam NBME3 EXTREMLY HARD So which one is the best predictor? NBME2 right Thnaks

One more I heard that 450 was the magic number to PASS the exam. and that many people with 420 or 410 fail the exam. Is that true? thanks again

By own experience I could say that NBME form 1 was easier than form 2 but it depends on many factors specially at what stage of your preparation you took it. I improved almost in 100 points from form 1 to form 2 in one month. knowing that the form 2 is more difficult, i was expecting a similar or lower mark in form 2 but i was happily surprised. Will take the test in a few days so i will know the correlations in a few weeks but a couple of friends told me that form 2 is more predictive while form 3 would represent the worse score you could possible expect. Now to find an explanation of that significant increase in score(form 1: 570 and form 2: 670) I am not sure but maybe because I've done a different Qbank in random, timed mode which forced me to review all the aspects of the test and not subject-wise as I did during the first qbank or maybe because I was just in a different mood he,he Hope to hear opinion from seniors since this topic is very interesting.

Hi kleovoulus First Qbank: UW as a study tool subject-wise Second qbank: Kaplan random, timed mode But I wished I've done it in the opposite order, thanks good luck to you too.

I can say exam is similar to form 2 in difficulty level. But when taking into account on load of questions on exam day, real exam is indeed more challenging. According to my research, NBME score is more predictable for step 1. For step 2, there is bigger difference between NBME score and actual exam score. Score rises quite linearly with amount of our study in step 1. For step 2, it is not exactly like that. Sometimes it becomes static no matter how hard we study. But this is not always worrisome as many can get higher score in real exam even though they got not that much in nbme etc. Just my opinion.

Thanks guys for the responses. Now what about the magic number to pass the step2 ck? for step1 was 400 some people say it is 450 to have a minimun passing score. Do they ask the same concepts in NBME1 and NBME2?

So how much could you expect to increase in NBME points after one month?
