Hi everybody !! I m very much new to this site....currently i m doing residency in internal medicine at sms Jaipur...last year. I m interested in Rheumatology....in India, training in this speciality is not available at much of institutes...not even at aiims. what i was thinking of...to do some fellowship in rheumatology from usa & come back India. But i dont know is this a feasible option??? How to proceed?? r steps necessary??

Steps are necesary for any residency or fellowship position. You can't apply to anything if you are not ECFMG certified and to do this you have to pass all the steps. You can get a fellowship in the US after doing residency in your homecountry and then just get back there after you finish but it will be far more difficult than starting from residency because programs favor their residents and residents from the US. Also remember that positions for fellowship are very few and rheum is also one of those so do have this in mind when you make your plans. Best of lucks, I'm also a Rheum fan! Hopefully we'll both get it!
