I am IMG with US ctitizenship. I Got 80 on my step one but unfortunately failed twice on my step 2ck .. but optimistic on my next attempt in July God willing.

I have excellent communication skills.

I had a one month observership in Internal medicine. And now I have really nice paid research coordinator job..... only just started ...

My question is .... should I leave this job after my exam to find some place where I can get USCE?? Or should I keep it and hope to get a good recommendation letter from my supervising Doctor?

I also got quite a good recommendation letter from the attending at my observership ..

What should I do ? Would be really greatful for honest opinions .....

Research experience is well appreciated by University-based programs. But your chances with them were hurt by your attempts. So USCE would be my answer. Why don't you ask the doctors that gave you the LOR, maybe you have a good chance at the same hospital?

Thanks arlete ....

I don't know really .. raised eyebrow it was a university based program in Mississippi , which I wouldn't call high ranking, and yet they have very few IMG's ... I was hoping to settle somewhere in the north east coast ... anyways thanks for the advice ..... still hoping for more from other people wink

I agree with Arlete.. go and get USCE because the research experience that you will get will not show how good a clinician you can be... this will come again and again in the interviews...
