Hi all.
I'm really keen to know, esp from those who matched successfully, how many of you actually did Observership at ACGME-accredited programs? As we know, these are notoriously hard to come by, yet are the only type that are accepted by residency progs. So how many of the people out there who list 'Observership done for XX months' in their Match creds actually did it at a recognized teaching institute vs private practice physician.

i really thnk somehting is better than nothing...I did it at a pvt practitioner's office. and I had some research exp too... I did get matched. And i sincerely think USCE did play a role. Not very sure if they would have considered bench work as USCE...I think everyone should take an observership position wherever they can...ACGME acc programs want USCE but are not willing to give the candidates any experience. Ironic but true!

Thanks, PG. I hope it'll make a diff to my application too. And, yes, what you said is spot on. They want but they won't give. Where are we expected to get USCE from, if not in the US!! Amazes me sometimes. But, hey, I've chosen to enter the playing field, so I just have to accept the rules, and concentrate instead on winning.
