Actually Agakhan University Hospital in Pakistan does have a Family Medicine residency program. I don't kow anything about the California letter but why don't you email the Family Medicine department at AKUH and explain your situation. Their email address is family.medicine@aku.edu I'm sure they would have doctors that have been through a similar situation. They are usually known to respond to emails. Its a shot in the dark but you have nothing to lose.

hi maqch, i think social and preventive medicine can be substituted for family medicine. btw, did you get a social security number for ptal. i know they have made it a necessity for ptal. does anyone have any idea about how to get a SSN on H4 visa????? any inputs would be highly appreciated.

you cannot possibly get an SSN on an H4. But what you can get is a waiver letter from Social security Admin(SSA) saying tht you are not eligible for an SSN. Dunno how the PTAL works though without the SSN...

Yes, family medicine is required for PTAL. They accept Community Medicine as an alternative. If u have SSN, u can apply for PTAL.
