i know that graduation year is considered as cut off for many programs.but for old grads with work experience does the year of grad still be big hurdle?

Yes. nod Unfortunately. And even worse if you have a gap in the cv!

I found some programs that say 'althought this is the graduation date cut off applicants in continuous clinical practice will be considered" and some saying "there is no graduation date cut off but we would like to know what you have been doing since". You may want to check the web sites of programs in detail and call and ask the PC when in doubt.

However, as Arlete said I think graduation date is a big issue and unfortunately its not something we can "work on"wink.

work experience does count in many places...i had a residency and got calls from places said they took only fresh grads, i clarified with them of course before applying...however some programs are very strict and will not consider it...so best though very cumbersome route is to email all the prog that have this clause and ask
