Hi guys, I had a few questions regarding the J1 visa, any kinda inputs are welcome... What are the odds of J1 research visa being rejected at the counsulate?? Is it always recommended to consult an immigration attorney for the application process? Thanks very much .

Hello, I am on a J1 visa doing clinical electives for 2 months. I dont think you can calculate the 'odds' of a visa getting stamped or rejected and even if you could, would it help? would you not still go ahead and apply for the visa. I dont think you need an immigration attorney, unless your 'case' is complicated e.g. if you have a criminal record, you have been on a J1 visa before, you over stayed the last time you went to US etc. if you're documents are complete, the visa process is usually pretty smooth ( well, it was in New Delhi, cant really say about other states / countries) Hey, could you please share where and what field are you doing your research in. Thank you!
