I have been a silent watcher of this forum for some time and find the odysee of some old grads quite encouraging. I would be grateful of any input from your part how to improve a chance for me to get matched. I came to EU in 1980 and now in my 45 I gratuated medicine in 1992 in EU (Germany) in my second language Working in the UK in last 5 years to learn English (my third language) for CSA, and finally passed...though with 3 attempts :-( passed USLME step 1 (1 attempt) & 2 CK (4 attempts) in 1998, score 78 &79 Passed USLME CSA 2003 (3 attempts) and step 3 2006 (1 attempt) had one publication as PhD thesis from Germany in 1996 Internist from Germany in 2001 Need visa and had no US experience. Since 3 years I have applied to more than 130 programs without any interview. I thought to repeat the USLME step 1 & 2 (CK) this year to improve the chance for an interview. Thanks for your input

Dear asianpoem: Your chances are very slim and anybody that tells you otherwise will be lying or having no idea how the competition now a days is. I think it all depends on how important it is for you to be a doctor in USA. Passing the step 1 and 2 CK again, specially with high scores is your best bet. It's good you can do it again. But it's more money you are investing, and the odds are against you at this point. I don't know what programs you are applying to, but making a careful selection of them, confering their selection criteria will save you money and energy (nobody likes to receive the rejection e-mails). If it's still on you to be a doctor, if you still believe you have what it takes, that will be shown in interviews and hopefully people sometimes are open-minded and take chances in unconventional candidates. But it's a tough decision, and I don't know what other alternatives you have in life. Anyway... Good luck!

If you have time and enough funds, you can come to US, get to join a MPH or something which lets you interact with doctors ,impress them with your goodwork and take it from there. Because I feel American system is easy to break in if you are good with people. Nothing is impossible here. But as Arlete said ,we dont know what alternatives you have and how much you want it.
