In Kaplan notes they say, time to start pap smear is either 18 yrs or after coitarche whichever is younger; but UW says it is 21 yrs or 3 yrs after coitarche whichever is younger. Pls explain which is true.....

PAP – lots of 3’s
annually till 65 yrs, if 3 neg and same sex partner then every 3 years ( after 3 test come negative consecutively.) If new sex partner, you start from beginning.
If I/C, DES exposure, or hx of CIN II/III, first check 4-6 month, do Annually even if 3 neg results.
When to start screening: within 3 yrs of first sexual encounter, or age 21 (2+1=3), even if not sexually active. whatever comes first.
If ASC-US . repeat after 4-6 m till 2 are neg . if positive again refer for colposcopy.
You have to compare Pap smear with ectocervical biopsy, if PAP is worse, that’s means you missed it on biopsy. You then do a cone biopsy.

Important point but I think it is after 21 or 3 years after first intercourse whichever comes first.

Do you do a PAP smear on a 19 or 20 year old who is NOT sexually active? OR wait till 21?

No, you do not. In this case, turning 21 comes first, doesn't it. So, you'll start at 21.
