Very useful information.
Thank you!

I thought this could be a good place for people to start researching opportunities etc, rather than head-scratching wondering where to begin.

Good luck, guys! smiling face

  #10

wow thanks nod

This is a list of dedicated Pediatric Hospitals. Not all of them have attached Residency Progs. But, if you're looking for opportunities, this would be a good place to start.

there was something i wanted to write in...didnt know where, so am writing it here...this is in reference to the query bout IMG friendly list...its good to know instis that have taken IMGs before and are open to interviewing them again, but i have a few known ppl who really sold thenselves short this yr coz they didnt think they would get calls
so while looking for programs that are img 'friendly'...do also research programs that are really good, u might just have 'the' requirement they want...chek out the match list of candidates from this forum...i mean cinci childrens, cnmc washington, bcrp, wayne state...these are the best...so while remaining grounded please do aim high!

It is interesting to know you guys also plan to apply Pediatrics.
I want to apply Pediatrics residency from University of Washington. Does anybody know it is IMG-friendly or not?

  #15

are u interested in CNMC, washington dc or seattle, univ of washington? the former just took a IMG, the latter for all i know has not taken one, though they dont have any difficult eligibility criteria and also sponsr h1b

  #16

Thanks paheli. Excellent worknod

I am interested in Seattle one because I live nearby to Seattle and I heard the academic level quite strong. Do you think we should normally contact with program director before applying?

  #18

hey snowdrops

I also live near seattle n intertsed in peds ...will be applying for match this year....lets be in contact (if u want)

thanks

  #19

i contacted PDs before applying only if I had any genuine query, usually regarding eligibility criteria....after applying if i had some contact whose reference i wanted to use at any institute/or new results came like my CS result came after my applications/or i got new LOR...only then i contacted the PD...it was in these letters that i would try to convey my level of interest or desire...trying not to sound too pushy...in case u have family close by mentioning it is a gd idea....programs like residents to have family close by for moral support....if seattle is the 'one and only' for u then maybe u should try to let them know, but better still communicate ur desire for an period of observership (even if they dont offer usually no harm asking)...serves all purposes...just an idea, things work differently for different ppl!!smiling face

  #20

Thank you for giving excellent advice.
I will contact with them about observership. I should contact with the assistant of program director or program director himself/herself?
For tikka, pm me if you want to contact with me.

  #21

mostly it depends on which email u have ready in hand...if u email both then mention that in each of the emails so that they know...and then if they dont reply, call them...it is a very difficult to get into place for IMGs as u will realise if u chek the list of resdients in last 3 yrs but all the best, hope u get what u want!

  #22

This moment, I am only interested in Seattle Children Hospital. Let's what will happen.
Thank you again for your help.
Good luck with your process.

  #23

You can add IMG friendly programs over here if you wish:
