q 1 ) what is the effect of increased incidence on sensitivity...? q 2 ) what is the effect on increased prevalence on sensitivity? the answer they have mentioned for the 1 st question is none...can any 1 plz explain..? coz when incidence is increased the number of new cases added are increased.. thus the true positive cases should increase..i.e... the numerator increases.... and in the second question.... prevalence remains the same.. plz elborate on this topic..

Increased incidence will not change sensitivity. You are right it will increase the number of new cases and TP but it will also increase the number of people with disease. Sensitivity=TP/all diseased. Sensitivity is not affected by prevalence. Prevalence is total number of people with disease. Look at the equation above... the same idea. Sensitivity reflect only how good or sensitive test "to get out" disease from population. I hope it help.

sensitivity does not affect incidence or prevalence..... prevalence is only affected by negative and positive predictive value....prevalence goes up with positive predictive value...meaning if the disease is more prevalent in a population there will be more chances of true positives,,,,
