You measure your progress by the number of pertinent questions you stop missing, by the awkward pauses you stop having during the history, by the feeling of "at easy" you start having after practicing a few cases over and over. Remember you are a doctor, you know it already. This test is like asking a teacher to pretend to give a lecture.
The improvement one makes in one month is huge when practicing for this test.
Don't forget to read the csprotocol blog, it helps a lot.

Intend to start my prep from tomorrow onwards.
Startin out with FA.
Hope to get a quick read done first to orient myself.
Once finished with that will start practicing cases.
Am giving myself two weeks to get exam ready coz i need to be travelling afterwards.
A coupla days of recovering from jet lag would hopefully be followed by some shadowing for 4-5 days in conjunction with some more practice.
Last 3 days will practice even more intensively.

Hey deja vu..good to see you back. And wow what an amazing coincidence this! We do seem to follow each other around.hehehe. The prep's goin along ok. Kinda boring though. But its goin to get a lil more interesting once i have the right practice partner. Till then i'm just tryin to get a broad idea of how i need to go bout the exam day. Hasn't been much sweat so far but lets see how it goes.

I dont know...studyin for this exam seems a lil crazy to me...i feel like you need to know a few rules...maybe practice some...and then impovise some on the day of the exam...but then its best not to take chances

no genbot , nothing for the exam day
there is a pattern like a formula for taking this exam. stereotyped q's , notes etc . we need to practice for exam-sake. like if we know a formula by heart , we can easily come up with an answer , but if we decide to derive a formula, its going to take a long time.
and every case in first aid and uworld has to come out of us as if we have been doing it everyday of our life
one odd case might be out of these , which we will be able to manage after doing so many given
my 2 cents !! actually not mine , one of my friend's two cents!!

I'm finally here in america. Gettin over the jetlag thing. Doin well so far (yes this is a prep post!!!)
my CS prep so far has been a lil disorganized but i'm hopin to put in a strong effort from tomo, now that i got my favorite partner to work with.
will also be doin some shadowin in the meanwhile. hopefully that'll help too.
so 7 days for me then...
but u know wat i'm fairly confident i can handle this stuff...with the right prep of course!

Usually we look at the chief complaint...look at the quesitons u need to ask...and then start practising...once done we then look at wat we missed out on...
if there is a particularly difficult case we repeat it...
if u know ur history i think the patient note should be easy to write...but the important thing is to use abbreviated language so that u can save on space....and also generally follow the same format u do while asking the history...i tend to use the same format for both...makes it easy

ros
medications
allergies
pmh
psh
sh
fh
and of course i use the same transitions all the time...
but dont worry once u get enough practice at history taking and note writing all these things will seem reflex.
generally with the hpi i go like...first detail the chief complaint, then rule out 4 to 5 differentials depending on the chief complaints (one or two questions for each) and finally review of systems using again one or two questions for each system.
the rest is fairly standard.
also anytime i came across somethin i need to counsel on i note that down and return to it later during the closure.
closure goes like...explain probable diagnosis, need to run some tests, if any further exam required (e.g pelvic), counsel if needed, ask for any Qs or concerns, say bye
