Just received! I couldn't sleep 2 nights straight before so can't blame anyone . NBME was 230 , so this is a bit disappointing , but still i will gladly accept it , considering how i gave the exam! almost dozing!. Exam was long and last 3 blocks were VERY lengthy, I had to guess and go in couple of questions. All in all, as everyone say, Kaplan and UW is enough. I went through Kaplan once and UW once , took notes and revised them. I ma doing MPH so didn;t have much time to read. 4 months with intermittent reading. This is doable and I could have scored better with a couple of hours of sleep. PLEASE take a good sleep, or it'll certainly affect your score as exam is about speed of your thinking. My step 1 was 88 and was a huge disaster due to server failure back in India. So this atleast puts me at a respected level, if not competitive. Best of luck to everyone else.

Yeah exam started at 4 in afternoon. instead of 8 in morning due to server probs. had a fight with proctors as they didn't even try to acknowledge my prob. and once i started it again failed in 1st block but fortunately exam started with only one question lost. Thanks for the compliments!

And add the damned sleep exhaustion to that! My biggest prob is pre exam insomnia. I wonder how i'll do step 3!

inkspot NBME -2 560. That's pretty much predicitive. Thanks all the people for compliments. I have CS on th 15 april. Server prob wa with step 1 , that i gave in Ahmedabad India. I gave step 2 at Marietta [ Atlanta ] GA. klveombus - I'd be applying for Medicine / neurology/surg. Let's see. I am on a student;s visa right now so I don't wanna take risk of prelim surg. I'll just squander some $$ on applying to feasible surg programs for Cat positions. Just a gamble. You don't know what happens. Please ask me if anyone has any questions regarding exam.

Step 1 was last year this time. Then I cleared GRE/Toefl etc and applied for MPH started in August, started reading in late october to november [ 1 month approx, as i had MPH exams in nov end and dec] Went back to India for q month in Dec end read on and off back home [ Very difficult when you are back home !] , came back around mid jan and started reading again. Started UW around mid Feb , went through it with a fine toothed comb!! Made lots of notes outta UW [ it's a separate book in itself]. Looked at the notes again, gave NBME 2 2 days before exam scored 560 , didn't sleep for 2 days [ Even Zolpidems don't work on me pre-exams] , sat through exam, slept through last 2 blocks. Some questions were spot on [esp those where there are lots of options and 2 questions, they tend to be point blank] , some demanded thinking and some proved that Marquis De Sade's evil soul is still rampant in academic world.I think that the difference between what i got and what is left [ the 6 point gap to people's beloved 99] is the subtlety of thinking between those 50/50 choices which you can't do if you are perpetually sleep exhausted in USMLEs like me. My experience is not standard as I can't revise, that's my big flaw, I lack the patience , still I feel that at least for Step 2, going through UW twice/ doing more questions is more important than reading Kaplan twice thrice [ believe me , some of my pals went through Kaplan notes 4 goddamn times! both for step1 and 2!], because unlike step 1, where there is lots of stuff we don't go through as thoroughly as AMGs in our med schools, step 2 subjects are generally well taught and read and we know almost 80% material already. The key here is to read the question FAST and discern between irritatingly similar looking choices. That comes with repeated questions. Noting where you missed the [ sometimes ridiculously simple ] point and taking care you don't do that again. Reading again and again might give you more bulk of memorized knowledge but the subtle discrimination needed in Step 2 will come with questions and making mistakes. This is the biggest difference from step 1 where difficult questions are about whether you know that obscure/difficult point or not. Here you already know it, game is if you can quickly analyze and pick the right point or not. Hope that helped.
