i had a friend take it, the same one, the home version, and she said it was esp useful for ccs part, b/c she never had any clinical exp in the us, and she never even took kaplan for ck review.. i heard kaplan reviwe for step 3 isn't that good only b.c it is so short, so much info (essentially all of step 2 course in 10 days) and the books are more in depth for step 2 rather than step 3. i plan to take premier (and i have taken all of kaplan's courses since my sat prep in high school, haha) course and review my step 2 books and take step 3 upon completion of my step 1 in few weeks.. i have heard it's just a glorified step 2, meaning 2 days of same stuff, so really we know the materials.. hope that helps!

Did you really take all of kaplans courses! thats funny! well, I am already in residency, but im going so that someone can give me a full review of the syllabus. I cant possibly see all the cases. I got very comfortable with independant patient care over the last year, but i just wanto learn some tricks and relearn a lot of things. If possible my advice for people is to take step 3 before residency so you dont have to worry about it, also prepare well, otherwise youll get screwed. its a double edged sword if your just winging it. btw, i heard a lot of people with 90 scores didnt match and a lot of them in 80s matched this year. So take that however you want, but i think the US program directors are slowly realising that not all 90 folks are quality material, there are some bumbo jacks that get scores in the 90 s but cant function at all in a hospital system for various reasons, and piss everyone off. so rejoice my fellow hard workers. And keep working at it.

yeah i took it for step 1 and step 2, why is that funny??? wound up liking PASS program better for step 1 and totally prmote kaplan for step 2, step 3 i am $$$ out so i plan if need be to do premier for course b/c it's price effective, and i just want a confirmatory source to tell me the correct sequence or DOC for questions, which my friend felt that program did for her, and she passed (w/o ever even looking at kaplan for step 2, risky but she passed!) i took c3ny for cs (tho i came to realize that cs really just tests ur communication, i was nervious bc i had not had patient contact in usa, since i went to school abroad, and most ppl in my class were literally with foreign accents) i havn't done step 3, but plan to as soon as im done with this step 1, bc that's my last test, and plan to take step 3 prior to july, just so it's over with!!!

hi imres08, Thanks for the feed back. can you tell us more about what was challenging for you? where did it help you most? please tell me if you saw any problems with it also, like did you have to relearn something? Thanks again, your response is reassuring, BUD!

I used it and I think it is a great course, I also used the Kaplan step 3 notes and the Usmle Step booster book... all three were great together but since the premiere review is around $300, and if you have the kaplan, just get the booster book and do UW questions and you'll be more than good to go! for your question about the P review... the weakness is peds and psych/ethics... they almost skip those. but they are really good for other subjects. They have a distinctive voice... very high monotone ... so when I was in the exam room, I found myself hearing their voices in my head while answering questions! lol I think it's good stuff but not worth the price.

hey E1! question, so bc i'll be doing step 3 shortly (hopefully starting in May), if i purchase the home premier course, i should be good to go?? plus my ck notes (is it necessary to get step 3 books, as i have the step 2 books already) and this booster book (wow, i've heard more about this book in the last few days then ever before!!?!?).. and of course the world bank, it is good enuff to for CCS cases as well?? do they go ovr that in online version of course? did u do the nbme as well? was ur actual score comparable to what you thought u'd get going into the exam?? thx for all u help!! best of luc with everything!

i don't think that the premier course is sufficient if studied by itself...even with Usmle world and the usmle Step Booster book. I think that Kaplan is a must, even if you just go over the cases without watching the videos. so if you want to get the premier as extra material, it will help. the step booster book is indeed very well written and I like how they made it as a last minute review of all the topics mixed together. the nbme was not comparable to the real exam... not for me at least... I did better than the nbme "predicted" me to do.

aaaah, well that's great!!! i want to do well on it and not have to take it repeated, i mean i dont need it for visa issues, i just am graduate from before so before applying i want it over with.. u think with all u suggestd i can descent score? i got my ck score and it was 86, i know nothing to brag, but to give an assesment as to roughly where i stand, woudl u asses i could do comparable to that on step 3 or u think those ccs cases will be a downer in the score?

no no...ccs actually worked on my side! don't buy the UW ccs, you can find them online as a pdf file... all you need to do is read them once or twice and you'll be set to go. just look around, search google, I'm sure many people have them and are willing to send you a copy... my step 2 score was lower then yours and I got 89 on step 3.. it's an easier test.
