plz tell me how many days are required for FA?

depends if u've done it before or not, if u have, then give urself last 10 days to go thru it two times thoroughly... if you have never done before (should have been using it while studying thruougout and adding to it as some info missing in FA) then u may have to spend longer time. reveiw each subject in FA after studying whichever topic u chose for that day, this way FA wont look all new during u final review rite? so then last 10 days just go thru FA (i shuld listen to my own advice, haha, as i am close to my test but i am planning same, i didn't do it last time i took step 1 and we see how that resulted).. i am doing goljan now and doing corresponding chapter in FA daily, so when i do final review i have seen before, hope that helps u! good luc!

yes took the nbme's, recently took form 5 (new form that ws out) got 440, so was little sad b/c i dont want to retake this test, last it took over year ago (in dec 2006), but in btwn i took ck and passed that (so relieved), so this is last exam i have left. i have taken forms 1-4, more so for just learning from and seeing what kind of q's they have (esp forms 3 and 4). my exam is in 2 weeks now, hoping i just focus and concentrate, doing goljan daily with study partner, and will listen to audos week before exam (heard once before but looooong time ago) and doing FA simultaneiously.. i just found that FA has all concepts added to it that i did while doing uworld bank, so it is one big review, that is why i taes me so long to go thru entire book (5 days to do in depth, i have broken it down by few subjs a day) and if i can do that 2 times before exam, will be great, every single word in there is important some how
have u taken nbme? if not, def take, it is must!!! bc u get to see how q's are asked and i find it most useful for exam. uw was good too, but i found conceps of nbmes were highly highly important, but then again they can only ask so many different ways the same basic concepts rite??

hi ,i m taking nbme 3 four days b4 my exam.
i hav just started FA yestrday. how long shud i take to do it nicely?i m really worried. i did about 1/3 of it long time back about 6 mths ago. plz guide me asap,as my exam has cum .my speed has becum slow now,only 15 days to go

15 days is a lot so dont fret! take the next 10 days to go thru thoroughly, make a schedule by splitting up subj for each day, spend time learning every word, god knows where they get the q's but i have gone back and referred to FA and seen it written but somehow missed it the first time i saw it
so take these 8 days to do it thoroughly (i would think you would have covered a lot for past few days so take watever is left and divide it up for remaining 8 days); then upon finishing, spend 5 days to go through again, but quicker, u wont have to spend so much time second time around, that leaves u last few days to do HY goljan and definitely look through that HY pages at end of FA, this would be my suggestion for study plan for time left..
the only thing i would hope is that u dont get disheartened by doing nbme so close, why not do it 5 business days before u test, bc if for some reason u are not happy (i dont wish that on u, i hope u score super high) u can reschedule it witout getting charged to move exam if need be, b/c form 3 is hard i thought, and it's like form 4, where things are clumped in subjects, i found form 1 and 2 more spread out and mixed up like the real test, but the concepts from forms 3, 4 are very important too..

I agree with hottie99.
FA is a MUST! I had the sense that almost every question in the exam had its answer in there..though not always so obviously.
anyway, study FA thoroughly but be sure that you understand what u read and why( try to get the most of it but don't be fooled trying to learn it ''by heart''. it's not a problem at all if you cannot remember everything..nobody does! just try to UNDERSTAND as much as you can and everything's gonna be fine!)
.....and something important I forgot to say..DON'T spend time to learn now issues that you have never heard of before...it's time consuming and I'm not sure it helps significantly...so, concentrate on things you have learnt but need refreshing!!

i have a problem vid myself.i cant resist myself going to kaplan notes now while doing FA becoz of fear of missing any imp topic. i did kaplan notes long time back except patho.
plz some1 put into my head. N PLZ guide me if rite now i lock my kaplan buks and just do only and only FA, can i still get a gud score. very ,very nervous rt now,n cant concentrate. 
plz help me,only 2 wks to go.

nav99 calm down and relax..no need to go back to kaplan notes..just read FA!! I insist It would be very very effective to concentrate on it...except if u don't find it appealing to u or u feel it's too dense to understand it....but if this is not the case , and u just feel insecure and that's why u read kaplan again stop doing it! u'll waste ur time and u might not complete kaplan till the exam....FA is all u need if u are able to read it carefully and understand it.

yeah that's exactly what I say.
...however that depends on how well you did while studying kaplan..if you did a thorough reading of kaplan the first time then I believe FA should be enough. I hadn't studied kaplan( done some books from various series..) but nevertheless I did my final review from FA and almost all the knowledge I needed was in there.( however I had already read FA once during my preparation)
please don't panic. all I'm saying is that FA should be adequate..of course that depends on the preparation that each one of us has done..I cannot guarantee anything, I just can say that what I'm suggesting to u had worked for me.
there are always things to worry about or feel u haven't covered nicely..but that's the way it is, I suppose..there 's not time to read everything and our brain doesn't have space for all this stuff!
One last thing: Since u feel so anxious why don't u take an nbme form??? that's what hottie99 has already suggested..but do it as hottie99 said, earlier than you're planning to. so that u have time to postpone ur exam if things are disappointing. nbme forms, if done in the last weeks b4 the exam are impressively representative! this would be a good feedback for u! no matter which individual form u try, the difference is not gonna be extreme. do it just to figure out if u are prepared or u need some more time. try it!!and then u decide!

here's wat u do nav99, just take the nbme now, i mean just to get it out of ur system, if ur this anxious over the nbme, ur going to be anxious over the real exam, so get it done now, see where u stand, this way u can either continue on with confidence, reading FA daily (no kaplan, it's way too much information for review) and take u exam with CONFIDENCE!!
if it does not go how u want it to go, then accept that ur not ready, and reapply for next block, i know it's lots of money, but its better than failing, trust me, i've failed, tho im citizen so i dnt have to worry about visa or anythign when applying next year, but u always hear that the programs sometimes dont want people who have had multiple attempts, and you still have step 2 and cs left, so do as u wish, we are all just giving suggestions to help u out to make it more doable for u..
i say take the nbme today or tomorrow (its only a week earlier) this way u know where u stand, that has to take precedence now, b.c im not believeing that ur thinking ur confident about this exam, do not go into that exam scared!! good luc!!

i m doing only FA since morn. i m getting confident,feeling better.my exam is on 28 apr. now i have controlled myself just doing FA. i m feeling FA if done thoroughly can get me a gud score.

good, and just take the nbme it's no big deal, ur gonna do great!! this way u can go over it and understand the concept for the nbme, as those are high yield too. have u done other nbme forms?? if so and those were awhile ago, u will have improved and do well, just believe. yesjust stick to FA and u will do great, u have lots of time now, so dont worry and just study it as best as u can, hope that helpd!!
