Some one some where mentioned that TCA yields 38 molecules of ATP per glucose. I tried to calculate the enery yield myself, but can not achieve more than 32 ATPs per glucose. My calculation is as follows: Glycolysis: 4 ATP (substrate level phosphorylation) + 2 NADH - 2 ATP = 2 ATP + 6 ATP = 8 ATP (malate shuttle) TCA: 2 x (3 NADH + 1 GTP + 1 FADH2) = 2 x (9 ATP + 1 ATP + 2 ATP) = 24 ATP TOTAL: 8 + 24 = 32 ATPs Please correct me if I have made a mistake.

Everything looks ok... I think you forgrt about pyruvate dehydrogenase. Pyruvate to acetyl-coA is considering to be the first step in TCA. This will give you 2 NADH----> 6 ATP
