hi ali.i just sent you a pm..... don't be depressed because you don't need to be.

your NBME scores tell me you are ready to face the exam now... .but with more that a month in hands you will not just face it with courage but will also ace it..... work on your weak areas,not neglecting the strong points,coz we often make that mistake..... so in my opinion,use your itme in such a way to do them both justice and you will see the result in your real exam score.....

most of all,have faith in yourself and GOD.

Thanks alot sos u know this is a very difficult time in life when friends n family all have their eyes on u so i get depressed by thinking what if i dont get a desired score but ur words have encouraged me n i l work harder on my weak areas n strengthen my strenghts do pray for me i need a 95 plus so badlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....

Hi SOS ;
first of all congrtas for the great score on step 1..sure u deserved it..an d u got it..wishin u the same ( at least ) for next stepss...what i want to ask is..that i really am still curios about anatomy..an d nowadays..pharma too..i wrote down all the explanations notes from UW Qs..and decided to review and memorize all there..only those i mean..do u think it is really enough to answer nearly all doable Qs of anatomy & pharma on step1 by only reading & memorizng those what i wrote down?? postponed my exam to first half of June just because not feeling good baout these 2 lessons.. waiting for your your suggestions advices...thnx...

thanks ghost surgeon for the wishes,but GOD has something else in mind for me,perhaps..... my visa for CS got denied the second time... i don't know what i am going to do.

as for your querry...... if your basic concepts are clear,then UW is not bad for the last revision.... but you gotta supplement it with FA at least..... in fact,in my opinion FA is a must do.... so please find time to go through FA... FA itself is really good for pharmac.... i am sure you will answer majority of your pharmac questions just with FA.... and for the rest UW should help.... UW gives you a good practice for those experimental and graphical questions.. and you d osee a lot of them on exam,so be prepared to do them...

and i think the best way to find out if you are prepared for the test is the NBME... so i suggest,take one NBME and you will get a few answers for yourself..... i trust the NBMe a lot in this regard.. it gave me very accurate predictions.....

thnx for your reply and advices SOS.. i really am sorry for your visa status ...i think it is important to ask the reasons to someone inside if u have the chance to do....but today or tomorrow...sure u ll get it..GOD gives us something and we thank for it...but when GOD does not give us what we pray for we begin to question...i think the best thing to do is sending them a real good file ...i ll pray for u...

hi sos ,
i did nbme 2 n my score is 480/214. disapproval

my actual exam is on june 9 th.can i improve by 9th or shuld i postpone my exam??

hi sos did nbme 3 online yesterday got 610/244 OMG i am dreaming now...sos i really wana hit the magical figure but all this talk about the new exam format and exam kind of getting difficult has become distracting..plz guide me thru this i have exactly 25 days left before the exam plz guide me?should i be worried abt the new format?

thanks for all your suggestions but i guess my case is beyond all this now..... and i have kinda accepted it ,almost.... it doesn't hurt as much as it did a week back.... God must have made some plans for me.... i have faith in him... so i gotta wait,i will know why it happenend in some time i guess.thanks for your prayers..

hi skamran... you have approx 2 weeks and in my opinion 480 is not bad..... rest you know better..well....... what i mean is,i had got 550 on NBME 4 one week before exam.... but instead of postponing i took the exam ... for two reasons:firstly i hoped to improve in a week's time and secondly i wanted to get done with the exam... like i felt if i postponed it i will rather regress than making any improvement.... you need to ask same two questions from yourself...

"will i be able to make any improvement in my exam performance in this time?"

"if i do post pone ,am i going to be any better than i am today ,or am i going to be fed up and make it worse,and most of all can i take it any longer?"

you know the rest..... i will be glad if you find your answer this way....

hi rehanarp,i can understand your position... every one of us face this... and then with time we find our answers....... you can start with goljan audio lectures,coz in my opinion they give you a good start... you can find them at www.usmleturk.blog . and you will need kaplan books as well.... these two together make a good foundation... so i suggest you start eith them.. more latersss.

m just new...wanna take this challenge...but first i need to know all the abbreviations...like wts FA...UW...n others...
im starting prep soon...and ive been suggested to read KAPLAN only...with or without its dvd's...is that ok??can i do it just with KAPLAN???

hi dr mayyam

UW = USMLE World. it is an online tutorial with questions and expanations. a very good learning tool. you can check out the details at www.uworld.com .

FA = First Aid... it is what its name says... only thing is this first aid is to be taken in the last few days before exam.... it is one book whic summarizes a lot of important points... very good for revision just before the exam. sometihng you can't do without....

as for going with kaplan alone and dvds(to do or not to do) i have already expressed what i think.... yes you can start with kaplan for sure,but for step 1 you will need some extra stuff... as i have mentioned in my prep post....
