Can you explain better what is your routine when you practice with a friend or family member? Do you follow the cases from FA and UW? or just improvise? I ask this Q because I found that during the time when the parther is looking for the right answer in the book, we waste time. After you finish with the history taking and the physical exam, DD and workup, do you write down the paper work or you continue with the next case? I mean, during the time you practise writing the PN the other person could be bored, or you just don't wanna waste the whole day of that person. How many cases do you practise per day? How do you practise cases over Skype? Can you explain some details? Any other tips for practicing will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Ask the partner to atleast know the salient features of a case e.g if its Pul Emb ask her to remember to mention OCP use. You can practice writing PN of some, and can leave out some. You don't have to practice writing each and every case. Thats what i did. We had exam in a week, both almost did 10 cases each everyday.

First let your partner to read the case carefully and try to pretend as its mentioned like if SP is supposed to cough he/she has to cough holding a tissue with red color on it. All the guidelines are mentioned in FA for the SP and anything other than that is a NO or SP can say I DON'T KNOW. I would suggest you practice writing each and every case. I took xerox of the PN sample given in USMLE cd and i try to write it in time. TIME YOURSELF. If you are studying full time you should do 10 cases daily. Each case will take 30 minutes. 15+10= 25 and 5 minutes you can discuss.

ya i agree with oldkidontheblock. please practice writing all patient notes. you will realise hw helpful dat was whn u r at the xam. ideally u shud write the note immediately after u hv taken history. but, i used to do 5 cases each day , at a time ,on my aunt, note down the findings and thn i used to refer to those notes and write patient notes. all 5 at a time. i used to time myself. u choose wat suits u the best

Over Skype, it's pretty much the same as live, except you don't do the PE, only pretend to be doing it. I practiced the history and closure much more than the PN and the actual PE I didn't practice a lot, only imagined to be doing.
